Hey guys, I'm transitioning over my server and testing out FlexRaid. I would appreciate some help with setting up the drives.
I'd like to have 2 Parity, but that means I need 2 PPU's right? So how much space could I get with 2 parity?
How much space and what configuration if only 1 PPU?
I have the following drives:
5x 2TB (4 samsungs, 1 WD green)
5x 3TB (two toshibas, 3x seagates)
1x 1TB Spinpoint F3
So, what's the best way to set this up?
Should I have
DRU1= 3x 2TB
DRU2= 2x 3TB
DRU3= 1TB+2TB+3TB
PPU=2x 3TB
Which leaves a spare 2TB?
I could (and probably should) use the 1TB drive as a secondary in my main; the Hitachi 1TB drive I'm using now shows "caution" status on crystaldisk.
So, omitting the 1TB drive, the only combination I can think of is 3+2 below:
should I set it up as 5TB dru's?
dru1= 3+2
dru2= 3+2
dru3= 3+2
PPu1= 3+2
PPu2= 3+2
That would give me 15TB total storage, right?
And if I only did 1PPU, then I could have 20TB storage, using the same 3+2 combos?
