About a year ago, I purchased a cheap computer, brand new for $500. I don't know much about the specs, as I'm not big on computers. All I can say is that it has an Intel Celeron processor.
Despite the low-end quality, the computer will play Microsoft flight simulator reasonably well. It's just that the graphics aren't very good, and you will get some degree of lag. But you can play it nonetheless.
I decided to purchase a video-card, thinking it had to improve at least something. I purchased a GeForce 5500 PCI card. The card installed fine in my motherboard, and I then ran the software which also installed fine. After restarting the computer, the monitor goes black after displaying the windows logo. The monitor does have to be connected the the card, right??? I plugged the monitor back into the computer, and there is no change in the graphics quality of the flight simulator. I tried plugging it back into the card, and again, nothing but a black screen. I need some major advice as these cards are expensive. I'm pretty sure I have disabled the integrated graphics...
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
