I have a Samsung 193V 19" LCD and a BFG 6800GT. Recently, when I turned the PC on something in the case made a crackling sound and I smelled smoke. I tried it again and it did the same thing. The third time everything came on but the video display was all garbled. So I took the BFG out and put in a cheap video card to test and sure enough it worked. I sent off the 6800GT to BFG and they replaced it with a new one. I put it in and everything came up fine- or so I thought. About 15 minutes in, my Samsung monitor made a sound like when a new periphereal is detected and blanked off for a second and then back on. I went to check the display properties and noticed that instead of it showing as Samsung, it just said analog monitor. So I reinstalled the monitor drivers and it came back up as a Samsung. However, it lasted about 15 more minutes and reverted back to default monitor. And while it is registering as a default monitor it will go off for a split-second and then come back on. It does this several times in a five minute period and makes playing games impossible. Can someone please provide some insight or make a suggestion to fix this problem? I'm starting to wonder if the monitor was fried also and needs to be RMA'd.
