Ok guys,

I've got a specific budget for a pc. I need it for gaming and vmware sessions for my studies when i'm not playing games ! I already have a 17" CRT, but need everything else.

This is what i'm looking at getting:

AMD Athlon 64 2800 (Socket 754)
Asus K8N-E Deluxe nForce3 (Socket 754) Motherboard
NEC ND3500 16x DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS2.5
Zalman CNPS7000B-Alcu Ultra-Quiet CPU Cooler
Antec SLK3700BQE Black Quiet Midi Tower Case - 350W SmartPower PSU
Samsung SpinPoint P SP0812C 80GB SATA 8MB Cache
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)
OcUK ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail

Now i'm not sure if i should go with the XFX GeForce 6800, or get a A64 3000+ instead. I can go for either to max out my budget. Please also comment on the case/psu and general "quietness" of the components (is the GPU fan noisy ?).

Your expert advice will be greatly appreciated !

Thanks guys !

it looks pretty good. im not a huge fan of geil ram, but its alright. i would rather have a 6800nu than a 3000+ as well.

The case/psu might be an issue, I have heard of bad things from antec "smartpower" series as they are in a differnet filed than the "truepower".

I would probablly opt to buy a case seperate and buy a knwown good PSU such as a TruePower, or even better save yourself the money and get a Fortron, Sparkle, or PC Power and cooling PSU.

All of this can be read for the Stickies in the PowerSupply Forum

Also I would opt for the 6800NU over the 3000+

Quietness really is determined by the sound of your case fans and the sound dampening of your case.
