Please help me, harddrive problem

hello, before i start, im gonna say of the bat im about to cry, lol

anywho, i got one harddrive, and whenever i connect it to the comp, it prevents the entire comp from starting, but when i put in anotehr harddrive with windows on it, it start fine. whenever i connect teh frist hardrive and press the power button, the cpu fan spins for half a sec, and then stops.

why is this? please help guys, is it becase of the pin settings? or do i have to change the boot sequency in bios?

ps. both harddrives are not in at the same time whenever i try, there seperatly in, and both have windows on them.

Man, that drive is pretty dead.

It had a bad electrical problem that shorts out your power.

but i literally took it out, set it in a bag, and tried another harddrive, then put it back and the problem accured.

i daught it fried, i didnt even touch it. ic literally carreid arounjd harddrives, pocked em, tried to fry em, and they still work, i daoubt this would suddenly happen.

check the jumper
make sure its not set to master with slave present if there isnt one (Single) or vice versa

make sure the master device is at the end of the cable (black connector)
if there is a slave, that its connected to the middle grey connector

try cable select (for both devices if present)
its not at all beyond possibility that simply moving the drive killed it HDD are Fragile and ESD events capable of killing a semiconductor can be below the threshold to even feel
