been shopping newegg and not looking to exceed 700$ (give or take) and I can go either Haswell/IB/ or AMD 8350 builds.... just a little gaming PC and been out of this industry for about 2yrs, looking to see which option would be the better choice for games? I have things like PSU, case, etc... so thats why 700$ is all i need to spend to get me going. Which ever way i go, my 7950 will come with bioshock, anf fc3 and cant wait to play those games..... so which option is the better choice? Thanks so much ..

Which specific parts are you reusing? (Give us the brand, model name/number, and age of each part.)

Do you plan on overclocking anything?

Which monitor(s) do you have? Which resolution are you using? What level of visual quality would you like to use on your games?

Do you have a legal, unactivated copy of Windows? If so, which version/edition? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

im just needing to buy cpu, ram, motherboard, gpu... thats all. There will be just a mild OC on it, nothing special. If i go the AMD 8350, i can save nearly 100$, but here is my concern.... Back 2 yrs ago when i played with a AMD 965 cpu oc'd and all, playing fc2 was "good" but when I switched over to a 2600K FC2 played SOOOOO MUCH SMOOTHER. Im just scared that if i go AMD, that it will be a bottleneck?

ok, basically what im looking for yall's opinion on is this: If i go the AMD 8350 it will cost me 745.08 for cpu, board, ram, and a 7950.....

If I go Haswell i can get the i5 4570 cpu, board, ram, 7950 gpu for 805.23

Which setup would be in your opinion better suited for games? and like i said above, OC'ing is not important here... Thanks

You can do an i5 3470 (ivy), 8GB ram, ASUS mobo, AMD 7950 for $609 after rebate and a $15 Newegg Gift card will be sent as a bonus.

You had an i7-2600K? Do you still have it?

If so, you don't need Haswell. In fact, the i7-2600K, especially when overclocked beyond 4GHz, will outperform all AMD processors in gaming-based tasks (with a separate video card).

I have no issue with the HD 7950 as your video card.

No sir, i sold off that cpu 1 1/2 ago :( I do want to thank you all for helping me out, im gonna go intel for sure. Thanks

I'll come back later tonight with a Haswell-based build.

Please answer my earlier question about the specific parts (brand and model name/number) you're reusing. Some of those parts may need to be replaced sooner rather than later, and I don't want to assume that what you already have will work well with what you're buying.

As promised:

$210 - Intel Core i5 4570
$80 - MSI B85-G41
$63 - Corsair Vengeance LP 2x4GB DDR3 1600
$280 - MSI R7950-3GD5/OC BE HD 7950
=====
$633 - Subtotal (not including shipping, taxes, or rebates)

I focused on your $700 limit rather than overclocking ability; you'd spend upwards of $100 on a better setup (plus a CPU cooler).

One more time: What are you reusing?

im reusing my ssd (crucial m4) PSU (pcp&c 750sli) 24" asus lcd and a few wd black hdd's for misc downloads.... Like i said above, i need to buy the essential hardware, and now you all led me in the right direction to go intel again, cool. Thank you very much for all your help. Im not a PC noob, just rather been out of the game for a little and just need assistance playing catchup
