Please help me bring down my CPU temperature

My system config is on my sig.

I have two fans on my case, one on the side the other next to the CPU. The one on the side of the case blows air out, the other blows air in.

According to Everest my CPU/Heatsink cooling fan runs at 2050-2060 RPMs. The chassis fan runs at 4900-4970 RPMs.

Now my CPU temperature is usually at 58-60°C when idle (i know that is still high). At full load it gets to about 67-73°C. There has to be something not working correctly or maybe the motherboard sensor is caput, but i would like to bring down the temps considerably, especially on idle.

Help me out...
 
general rule of thumb for cooling:

intake fans should be front and side

exhaust should be top and rear :)



and a good dusting always helps :)
 
I'm not an expert, but something seems odd :confused: Those idle temps seem like something an intel prescott would do, not an AMD? Is your cpu fan properly seated? Did you change the cooler and not the thermal paste?
 
My friend's M7NCD PRO + XP2600 has exactly the same issue, very high temps, i think its a sensor bug because the heatsink gets hot to touch even when we applied artic silver to it, so the job is done correctly.

I wouldnt worry for cpu temp, just make sure you get a nice airflow inside case.

Have you tried updating the bios? I built a comp for my folks and used and M7NCD pro and the bios was really old, there was a lot newer one on biostars website. Theirs runs in the low 40c range with a stock cooler on a 3000+ barton.

This is what i was thinking, but couldnt find someone or a FAQ to agree.

If i use the latest BIOS temperatures rise about 5-8 degrees celcius.

Another thing my sister's PC (also built by me) is an Athlon XP 2000+, 512MB RAM, GF3TI500 and her CPU temperature at idle is 25 degrees celcius. I dont know at full load. Her motherboard is a Pcchips M811LU v3.1 (dont laugh)
 
with those temps I would absolutely verify the seating
by dismounting the heatsink and looking at the actual impression on the bottom of the heatsink
then reapply the TIM & remount

if the temps are actually that high, your looking at substantially increased electromigration
 
If I'm reading this right he has his side fan taking air away from the CPU/HS fan? That would be a big no no.
