Hi I would like to keep this short and to the point. I just finished installing a NB-1C on my IC7-MAX3 as a replacement. Now when I press the power button for my computer everything lights up and spins for 1 second then shuts off right away. If I hold onto my power button I can see a cycle of everything lighting up then shutting off then lighting up and shutting off. Please help me what the hell did I just do wrong? I hope I didn't crack the core.
 
Check all the power connections, especially the ones to the mobo. Then take off the HSF, reapply gunk and install it again and make sure its contacting the CPU, it sounds like it might be overheating then auto shutting down. But it might also be the PSU.

What kinda PSU you using and why you think you cracked the core?
 
Ive had this exact problem with my rig in my sig. It turned out the power supply was having issues, and replacing that did the trick. I had an enermax 465w or something close to that. Only had it about a year, before it decided it couldnt boot that pc anymore. However it worked in older pcs.. so I guess its power output dropped.

New power supply.. and all was well.
 
Bad PSU fuse. DO NOT replace it, most likely a serious issue. Get a new PSU. Simple.
 
you could have a little shortage somewhere, unplug all your cables and replug. if neccessary take out all your cards and replug also. one at a time.

if that doesnt work and you want to save soem money, take the whole mobo off the tray and try before forking out 100+ one a new psu
