So I just built My new system, got windows XP sp2 installed without a hitch booted back into windows after a restart and my usb keyboard isnt working and my mouse only worked after hotplugging it. okay fine so I install the chipset updates from the gigbyte website and now my mouse and keyboard light up and work in the bios i can changing settings there just fine but when windows XP get past about the first loading bar the light on the mouse goes out and when the welcome screen comes up, no mouse no keyboard I cant do anything, have tried every jack one at a time no go. so now I am here to find out what it is I borked up. Mysystem is as follows and has all the latest drivers from the gigbyte website. Also I tried multiple mice one optical and one gaming laser.

Intel Wolfsdale e8400 45nm
G.Skill 2x2Gb ddr2 1000 (only 1 stick for 2 gigs is in right now)
Zotac 8800gt 700mhz AMP! edition
WolfKing Trooper 2200 trooper Laser mouse
WolfKing Timberwolf USB Keyboard
WD Caviar SE 500GB 7200rpm Sata 3.0GB/s

Try enabling/disabling USB mouse/keyboard support in the BIOS.. Had the same issue w/ my DS3R..
 
If that doesnt work, unplug the keyboard + mouse and plug into a different USB port while in Windows.
It should detect the new hardware and install drivers for it.
If it asks for you to press next, you will need to plug in a PS2 keyboard to progress (reboot required).
Hopefully the drivers will just install with no intervention.
 
Earlier today I found that my Microsoft Intellimouse USB would not work after resuming from sleep in Windows Vista.

I swapped it out for a Logitech MX518 and now it works fine.
