Please help. Computer won't start

For some reason, my computer won't start. When I press the power button, all the fans and everything start but my monitor continues blinking and won't start. I don't hear any beeping noises from the computer that would have indicated a bad overclock. What could the problem be? THis is what I have

asus a8v deluxe
fx-55
x800 pro
74gb raptor

I've tried taking the battery out and resetting the cmos but it didn't work.
 
Well was it overclocked? What PSU do you have? What temps were you running at. What were you doing last time it worked? For people smarter than me to help you, need information.
 
psu is PC&P 510 Deluxe

It was working this morning. I played around with the bios and changed some things about power on and that stuff and this afternoon it won't turn on.

It was overclocked and temps are about 30 idle and 45 load.

Overclocking shouldn't make it not start right? If it won't post, all I have to do is turn the power off and on it'll work again.
 
sometimes incorrrect BIOS settings can lead to a computer not starting. I say reset the BIOS (remove battery or set the BIOS reset jumper on the mobo) and try again. MY gf's shuttle has a similar problem. No boot but power when the fsb is set wrong in the BIOS.

Once the BIOS is reset, just play around with the settings again (slowly) until your computer does it again and back the settsing down to the highest it will boot and run properly at.
 
According to the manual, bad overclocks won't cause it to not boot at all. It will boot and give me a message saying overclocking failed. Right now, I'm getting nothing. I've tried removing the batteries.
 
did your unplug the computer, press the power button, remove the battery, let it sit for about 30 seconds, plug in the computer, start up the computer to see if the BIOS reset), turn it off, replace the battery, and start it again?
 
Now say the video card completely died, should it still post or will that be a problem? I don't have another video card to test it with though.
 
it would post probably give you the "videocard beeps" (1 long beep followed by 3 short beeps).

to be honest with you, I would try a different PSU, but it sounds more and more like a mobo issue.
 
So what can I do? The only other power supply I have is a 300W generic one and I don't think it will be smart to even try that.
 
If the 300W is a known working PSU, just try it so that the PSU can be eliminated as a potential problem. Also removing/unplugging all unnecessary components from the mobo as well (soundcards, cd drives, try different memory combinations (different sticks, different slots) if possible) is a good practice.

Usually on the A8V (if its anything like my K8V), a bad overclock will not prevent a POST, it will simply boot,give a warning and load the BIOS config.

Most computers that I run into that will power the fans/drives/etc, but will not POST are usually a bad PSU, but more often than not a bad mobo. You may simply need to rma the board, it is entirely possble you got a bad one (I've gotten my share of bad mobo's, its a pain in the ass, but it happens), or something happened when you o/c'ed it.
 
I disconnected all cd drives and other non essential things. I tried the psu and I tried with 1 stick of ram in all 4 slots. Nothing worked.
 
Then I'm going to say that the mobo is most likely the cause. Time to rma to Asus.

How exactly do I do that? Do I call their support or do I do it from their website?
 
im sorry i cant be of any help to you, i would just call support to RMA...but i had a similiar problem as you. i OC'ed and couldnt start my comp...but reading your posts helped me out A LOT and i just wanted to say thanks!!!!
