I have been trying everything I can think of to figure out what's wrong with my pc.
Specs:
Windows 7 pro
Asus p8z68-v pro
8gb (2x4gb) G-skill sniper 1866 ram
Zotac Gtx 580
M4 128gb ssd (OS installed to)
WD 1tb black HD
Basically what led up to this. I had windows update come up around 2 days or so, it updated some things and then needed to restart, however I was busy and postponed it over and over (playing d3, etc) I just kept putting off restarting my pc.
Well last night while playing d3 I got a BSOD and it restarted my pc.
Then upon getting past the windows splash screen I was greeted with another bsod, it said something about "Memory Management."
So I spent all day trying to fix it. I have tried running it in siafe mode, it won't load windows that way either. I have put inmy windows 7 cd, tried to repair the installtion, no go, it errors out/bsod's on me there too.
I have ran the cmd prompt and then tried to do chkdsk, it comes up with some "File is corrupt" errors off the bat and BSOD's on me.
I tried doing a bootsec.exe and reparing the boot part, and /fixboot, neither of thoes worked either.
I ran Hiren's bootcd and ran some of the HD test, they came out fine, no major problems or anything on the HD.
So I thought I would check my ram. I pulled out one stick and left one in, same problems. I put it back in and took the other out, same thing.
Run memtest and it gave me some errors on my ram, after around 3 hours of running it it had over 4million errors.
Does this mean it's the ram? It seems like it could be the Ram or the HD.
Why would not only my ram go bad out of the blue, but BOTH sticks? is that common?
Shoudl chkdsk not work either if the ram is what's fubared?
Also when I was using the windows 7 cd and tried to install, it came up once where I coudl read an error and said something about " A patch is preventing blah blah."
So this lead me to think that the update could have messed it up, even then you would think making a new bootsector and things would fix it.
I'm just at my wits end now. Have an important doctors appointment tomorrow and this is the last thing I needed to happen since I use my computer for business reasons as well.
Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
