First of all, thank you for taking your time trying to help me with this issue,
Long story short, I've just build a computer for my 5 year old son (so he wont mess mine :D ), the problem is, after I put everything together and pressed the power button, for a "fraction of a second", all the lights led goes on (CD, power light, keyboard), the fans starts spinning, like would boot normally, but then it dies, the motherboard has a little led light that is on, so the PSU should be OK (??!!),
So, does anyone knows what it could be or have the same experience, once again I thank you all in advance for your help...

That light on just means the standby power is good. First off, make sure the power cable from the wall is actually plugged into the unit :D

Make sure the CPU has an appropriate cooler, properly attached, and also check that the motherboard is not making contact with the case - otherwise it is grounding out.
 
put the motherboard on a table.. connect only cpu and heatsink.. memory, and video.. and the power supply of course.. if it doesn't post then, something is wrong... swap out each part with a known good one until it at least posts
 
Second that.

Pull the mobo, put it on an insulated surface, a piece of cardboard works fine, don't use the static bag the board was packed in. CPU, heatsink/fan,memory and the video card are the only things required to post. This eliminates a lot of variables (like standoffs in the wrong spot) that won't let a board post. Add components one at a time, HD/CD/DVD ROM/floppy/soundcard/NIC and see if any one component kills the post.
 
make sure that the CPU fan is plugged and operating. Also, make sure that the CPU fan is plugged into the correct header. New motherboards will often shut down like that if it detects that the CPU fan is not working in order to keep the CPU from cooking.
 
Double check your motherboard jumper settings. Like stated above, only hook up the CPU/1Ram/VGA/1Optical/1HD.

that happened to me tuesday, my mobo light would only light up, i tried a new psu and it worked :T but it was from my beauty p2, 230 watt and it wouldnt boot my computer all the way :D so i ordered a fortron 530 and it should run fine once i get it
 
Hi Guys, its me again, I did what you guys had suggested but, unfortunately it did not work, I've also swap MOBO, CPU, Video card and Memory, with my own computer, and all have worked, any other suggestion you guys may add?
Let me give you the specs:
MOBO: D865PERLL
CPU Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz P4 2.80E SL79K CPU PRESCOTT 800
Memory: Patriot Signature 512MB PC2700 333MHz
Video Card:BFG Technologies-Asylum GeForce MX 4000 Graphics Card-ASLMX4000

When it starts on in the beginning, do you see anything on your monitor?

What do you mean, you swapped mobo? Do you have a spare one or ?

and please tell us exectly what you have done.
 
No, I don't see anything on my monitor, it just don't start, once I press the power button, the lights go on as it normally would, the fans start spinning (the CPU fan also) but is just for a fraction of a second and then stops, this computer I build to my son ( so he will keep he's hands of mine :D ), What I did was I swap with the parts with my own computer, (like replaced the CPU first, it worked, I put back, memory, and so on) but I only used the CPU, mobo, memory and video card, I've basically dismantled my computer to test my son's computer, I've test one piece of my son's computer at the time, on my computer...

Well. I am not 100% sure what you have done and what you haven't.
So.
First of all, I would Take the PSU from you PC and try to run a new system with it.
doesn't work?
Clear CMOS. By jamper or by removing the battery for 1 minute. Just be careful when inserting it back. Pay attention on correct polarity.
Still doesn't work?
hmmm....I would disconnect everything!
Then I would connect a working PSU. It is supposed to beep because You got no CPU, no Video card, no RAM. If it does not beep ...I would suspect a dead mobo.
so, if it does not beep, if I could I would check all other pieces of hardware in your working PC. They are supposed to work all right. (video,harddrives,floppy,each ram stick,CPU, any other PCI card - one at time.) Well if all of sudden one of them doesn't work - you found a culprit (if it wasn't crippled by mobo or PSU). But if all components work OK in your PC - mobo is dead.
I would also try to put CPU in the mobo anyway, even if it doesn't beep, just to make sure..

Anyway, if you do get beeps from you mobo when it is stripped of all hardware, you start to put it back one piece at time....

Check your power on button is connected to the correct pins in your mobo. Also check if any of your leds is conected to the reset button by mistake....
