Please Help - beep code error

I recently built an Abit AV8 s939 mobo with 3500+, 6800GT, and 1 gig of corsair xl ram. When i boot the system i get a beep that lasts for about one second, then about a 2 second silence, then another beep for a second, 2 second delay, etc etc. I have looked through the manual and cannot find anything on beep codes. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, as i am trying to get this box up tonight. Thanks in advance.
