i just started folding yesterday and i have a few questions

1: Will folding decrease the life of my computer's processor?

2: My current WU status is 7/400 and i dont really understand what 7/400 stands for so will i complete my first work unit when i get to 400/400? or have i already completed 7 work units?

thanks in advance

1)maybe... i mean, if u have some cheapo heatsink and ur overclocked and at 100% ur computer is running at a toasty 60-65.. then probably yes.
If its not getting too hot, then no

2) one WU will be complete at 400/400 ;)

thanx for the help, :D :D :D <=== look at me, IM EXCITED!

1. Your processor, running 24/7/365 will probably only last about 6 years, instead of maybe 8 or 10. Of course if you have a processor that old it is probably better used for a key chain fob.

2. Sounds like you got "tinkered", which with the new points system is not that bad. Yes, you need to go to 400 to get the points for team #33.

FOLD ON!!!

i also have another question....

i will be building a new comp soon and i am going to completely gut out my current system. Will i lose all of my folding progress when i start folding on my new comp?

As long as you use the same settings and user name you will not lose any completed work. You would lose the current work unit you were working on though.

I would suggest that you just copy over the directory you have Folding@Home installed in from one drive to the other. That way you can just pick up where you left off.

yea, make sure u get the "work" folder in there. thats where all the stuff is writen...

suggestion, when u gut ur system, buy or use another case/powersupply and kee the current one folding :) thats what i did
