I'm thinking of buying a new laptop for programming, and maybe some gaming on the side. I was looking through a ton of sites and this is the the best bang for my buck I could find:

http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=50106

Please let me know if you think this is a good deal, or if something about acer laptops or this laptop isn't quite good.

If you have any recommendation I'll take those too. But they have to be buyable from Canada.

Thanks!!!!!

Ugly and chunky aesthetics, but the specs seem pretty solid for your purposes at a respectable price point.

For that price range I would go for the ASUS UL80VT.
If you can live without dvd drive and some other differences.

So many choices in that range...but for an i5 that is not bad.

the acer is way better than the ul80vt.
the acer has the i5 430 and the 5470 ati card which is directx 11 capable.
by notebookcheck, the i5 processor is 40% faster than the c2d.

i dont like acers, so i'd go for asus k42jr-a1.
