I've got only a couple of more weeks to work before school starts, so it's time to build since there won't be a whole lot more cash flow once I'm back in class :\

Case: Lian Li PC-V1000b
PSU: Antec NeoPower480
CPU: AMD Athlon 3500+
HSF: Thermalright XP-120 w/ Panaflo L1A
Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
Memory: 2x512MB PC3200 Crucial Ballistix
Video: eVGA 6800GT 256MB
Sound: Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 200GB w/ 8MB Cache
Optical: NEC ND-2510a

This system will most likely not be overclocked to begin with, but I wouldn't want to rule out the possibility of it down the road. I'm also uncertain about the sound. The system is for games, but I also do listen to a lot of music with Z-680's.
Thanks! :)

Whoa, Nellie!! 98.3% of the system you have spec'ed there is like the one I'll be puttin' together in the next month or so. I'd love to do it earlier, but the "n00bage" factor is high and my buddy's too busy right now to walk me through it.

Anywho. It looks like your grocery list is solid as a rock! The MoBo's gonna be a little tough to get your hands on right now as they're outta stock everywhere. C'mon, MSI!! Give us this day our daily Neo's. :D

Any other input on these selections? I just bought the case today, so I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on it all :D

wait for the NEC 3500A. Its already out in Europe, cuz 4x DL is a huge timer saver compared to 2.4x. Not that much for the 16x thou... but its still faster.

you might also want to consider an addition raptor if u have the money to run just the OS and major programs

looks like a great system.
id personally go with an asus or abit mobo, and get a Sata HD.

I doubt I'll burn enough DVD's that if it went at 1x speed I would really worry heh. I just want to condense my ~30cd mp3 collection into something more manageable :)

I've considered the Abit and Asus 939 models, but I'm a bit more interested in an NForce3 chipset.
And that will be the SATA model HD :)
