[H]ey guys,

I have been toying around with the idea of purchasing a sub to Playstation Plus. Lately I have been playing a lot more PS3- having a blast with BC2, AC:B, and MAG among other games.

My question to you is regarding whether or not Plus has been worth it. Type your thoughts and concerns, I value [H]'s opinions more so than any other review site. How has your wallet felt about it, and what has been the content/money ratio?

If a DCUO sub is included with a Plus sub, that would be awesome and totally worth it right off the bat.

I am a Plus Subscriber. I primarily got it for Hulu Plus but also got the 2 year protection plan which was a good deal. I think it has been worth it for me personally but I actually use DLC and download more stuff than normal people.

If you do not care about Hulu and really do not download anything off of PSN it's retarded to pay for PSN+. The only thing it does is provide a discount to "some" content, free Qore, and access to Hulu Plus. They also have some free PSOne games but they are all shit.

They should give all the Crash games to PSN+ subscribers or at least a huge discount. Giving us Crash CTR is bullshit lol.

I think the idea of forcing you to pay for a service ... in order to pay for another service, is totally lame.

I subscribe to plus its worth it.

But, if you are a broke ass that has to ask, don bother.

I have enjoyed it personally. I would never have paid for most of the things I have downloaded, so the "savings" it has provided are not exactly true, but I have downloaded games that total a far higher dollar value than I paid for it. Sometimes when you dont have time to load into a full game it can be nice to just spend 10 or 15 minutes playing a game like Shatter, which by the way is a great game no matter how long you play.

Free avatars and themes are stupid, and Qore isn't exactly something I count the days between releases, but they can be interesting. I really have just enjoyed the monthly free games and a couple beta accesses. Actually MAG is free indefinitely for PS+ subscribers. You can only level up to level 8 without paying, but it's there, and somewhat interesting.

It's only worth it if you want a selection of older PSN titles for free or access to demo's early/beta's. They should forget that shit and concentrate more on the actual service.....like XGC and XG invites. The only real positive I can see from it is background downloading of updates/patches....that's a step in the right direction.

Another reason why it's not worth for me is it that the vast majority of stuff they give away I bought when it first came out......not really much to tempt someone who has already spent on the games. Now if they gave a broad choice of recent titles I'd re-consider.

So far, I like the service but definitely think it can be improved. What service can't? So paying for a year, I have gotten access to a lot of PSN games that I was planning to purchase and some that I weren't looking into at all. I rarely purchase DLC, so free DLC to games I already owned was welcomed. I was already a subscriber to Qore, so that is thrown in. The beta and trial invites are very nice as well. Of course this is stuff everyone else has mentioned.

One thing that I like the most, is the auto download feature. You can set your PS3 to turn on (it does so every 48hrs), to check for patches and updates to your most recent played items. I have had Netflix app updated, and countless game patches. It was super awesome to have this for the DC Universe Online beta. Their patches and updates are pretty big, so it is nice to come home and be greeted with a message stating that DC was updated. The downside to the auto-download feature is that you can't select the specific stuff you want to download and Sony can opt to push content to you that you may not necessarily want.

Playstation Plus isn't required for Hulu + access. So are you guys saying that a Hulu + subscription is included with PS Plus?

I got it last summer/fall and kinda regret it. The free games were nothing special, the discounts on downloads are usually a $2 savings on a $10 game, and the full game downloads are still no cheaper than the normally discounted versions sitting on the shelf at Best Buy or Target.
Thus far the only really cool thing I've encountered was the free Sam & Max series that showed up a few days ago. Not sure if it was an accident or a gift, but all 5 games are/were 100% free yesterday.
If they want me to renew this year, I'm going to need something some incentives.

I buy stuff from PSN almost every week and I still think PSN+ is dumb as hell the way they have it set up. Spending money to save $2 on a $15 game or get 50% off some random shit I do not want just isn't worth $50 a year to me. Also I have a ton of games to play, so I don't really care about getting free PSN Minis and PSOne games. Usually the PSN game they give away sucks too, and free episodes of Qore has always been mediocre at best... Plus they offer up those full game trials which last precisely one hour (yay?).

I don't know what the hell they are trying to do by selling their "full game downloads" for more than retail.

The only thing moderately interesting on PSN+ is access to some game betas, however they have not done that enough with good games to get my attention.

Just make sure you use a CC for it that you won't mind cancelling to get them to stop billing you if you decide to cancel. Supposedly it's pretty hard to get them to cancel and stop billing your card, and they don't give refunds at all.

I just downloaded the newest Sam and Max episodes for free, along with some other gun-type game and the $2 space-shooter. Sam and Max is funny shit.

Sometimes there are decent games for free but Plus is definitely not worth what Sony's asking.

Only time will tell whether or not I renew my year subscription.
