i just had to make this thread because I haven't been paying much attention at all, or even knew this was happening but holy shit did Sony just completely wipe the floor with this show. I mean, essentially every game that we have wanted sequels to is being made as well as others such as:

A whole new Uncharted game set in the Uncharted universe starring Nadine from Uncharted 4 and Chloe from Uncharted 2 called Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

The Last of Us: Part II (Need I say more?)

Ace Combat 7. I have been waiting for a proper sequel for a long time, and it's been made from the ground-up to work with PSVR. Day 1 purchase for sure.

Horizon Zero Dawn. Not a new announcement, but exciting nonetheless.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Remasters of 3 Crash games which I know people have been asking for a new Crash for forever.

WipEout Omega Collection brings in HD, Fury and 2048 onto PS4 with 4K graphics.

Parappa the Rapper, in 4K with massively overhauled graphics. What's more, there's a demo slated for today and Sony's head of worldwide studios, Shuhei Yoshida promised that updated takes on Loco Roco and Patapon are en route as well.

No love for Gran Turismo Sport? I may get PSVR for this.

GT Sport Livecast with Kazunori Yamauchi.

Or how about Ni No Kuni 2? One of the most beautiful games and critically acclaimed RPGs of the last generation.

not sure how excited I am about an Uncharted game headlined by Nadine and Chloe but I'm willing to give Naughty Dog the benefit of the doubt...as long as gameplay is fun then I'm fine with it...

I really hope Ace Combat 7 comes to PC in the future, even if a year later. $250-300 is a lot to swallow for a single game. But it looks good and seems to bridge the story between 4, 6 and 3 together. Lots of good shots in that trailer. Bandai-Namco has been bringing a lot of games over to PC as of late, so with luck it it will come over. The PSVR part makes me worried though; Sony may try and prevent a PC port if they're pouring lots of cash into it.

BTW, the VR part will not be in the campaign as I understand it. The PS4 is not powerful enough for it, so the VR mode will be an extra game mode. Probably a gimmick. If they brought it over to the PC, we can use Track IR or the other VR headsets in the campaign mode. ;)

Bro, Uncharted 4, Crash Bandicoot, Ace Combat 7, God of War, Death Stranding, The Last Guardian, The Last of Us Part 2, Horizon Zero Dawn.... $300 is not a lot at all for all those games. And I wouldn't hold my breathe for Ace Combat 7 on PC. I actually kind of wish my PC brothers and sisters would stop saying "...if it comes out for PC" so much. If you feel there is value in the game then you'll buy the console; I mean, if every game that came out was cross platform there would be no reason to buy one or the other. They have to draw you in somehow. There were plenty of deals during Black Friday and Cyber week online where you could get a brand new PS4 for $200. That's not a lot and with all the great Playstation Exclusives out there already it's nice to have choice. Most people I know who game on PC also have a PS4 b/c most of the Xbox One exclusives come out on PC anyway so it's the best of both worlds.

Well...
Uncharted always was Tomb Raiderish. Now it even has chicks as the hero's.

I'm extremely excited about several of those games. Been a while since I've been pumped about this many console games. Hopefully Scorpio revitalizes the Xbox as the only thing it has been good for is verbally controlling my cable box. Everything else has made it to the PC...and most of those games have ended up quite good, too.

I have not touched my PS4 in 2 years, now. It will be getting a lot more attention after these games are released.

Only one game from that list that would pay money for, and that is Ace Combat. I really have little interest in Death Stranding, Uncharted or Last of Us. Zero interest in the rest. I can get similar or better games than those on PC. Tomb Raider, a whole slew of zombie games and 3rd person shooters/adventure games. I wouldn't mind playing them, but there are a lot of other shooter/stealth/adventure games as it is on PC.

I'd rather play Ace Combat with 60+ frame rates, 1080+ resolution, and my HOTAS on my PC than a console. $250+ for a single game is a lot to me, especially when the hardware doesn't bring anything to the table. I don't mind spending that on a HOTAS or the like because it brings new functionality. A PS4 is just a low end, clunky to use PC that I don't have much space for. And have to pay to play online. And when the console is out dated, I will likely be out of luck when it comes to playing it on newer hardware whereas I can play old PC games a decade later. Between my X52Pro and 360 controller, I have two excellent control devices for a flight game already.

In any case this is a PS4 game thread, so I won't do anymore PC vs PS4 debates. I am looking forward to AC7, so who knows maybe I will get a PS4 just to play it.

I can completely understand your point; I just want to illustrate how the "I can get similar or better games than those on PC" doesn't make sense. Yes, there are many zombie games and 3rd person shooters but for instance The Last of Us is simply an experience that is ALL about the story. Like I said, yes it is a "zombie" ish game but at the same time it is the greatest story-based zombie game I have ever played in my life. Same with Uncharted. The thing here is that yes there are a million games like these on PC, but same games take existing formats and execute them incredibly incredibly well. It's like yes it's a 3rd person adventure shooter but it is the BEST to do it. So, I wouldn't dismiss them simply because there are similar games like them on PC from the i'm sure few video-clips and whatnot you have seen on them. It's like recently I saw Arrival in theaters, and on the same token you could say there are a lot of other alien movies I could see; and I would say that it likely true but Arrival does what it does extremely extremely well.

Imagine when Star Wars opened in theaters for the first time and your friend said you need to watch it, and you said there are tons of other sci-fi operas I can watch at home and I don't care to. Think about what you'd miss out on.

As you can see in my sig I game on the PC as well, but I honestly have been playing on my Playstation more in the last 6 months than anywhere else just b/c everything I have played thus far has been THAT great. Yes, I have similar games on PC but none of them execute as well as some of the Playstation games i've played.

I've read through The Last of Us story wise and it seemed very mundane. Even with good presentation it seems like a decent game but nothing superb. As it is I don't have all the time in the world to play every game though. Still have to do BL2, Dishonored 2, Watch Dogs 2, Just Cause 3 and the like. I don't even half most of those games I just listed. A PS4 would more or less collect dust for me. And of course, I'd want the Pro and not the lower end model if I were to get it. Maybe I'd be able to play games in 1080 then. :p

Says TLOU's story seems mundane.. goes on to list other games to play with significantly more mundane stories. o_O

You should consider taking the horse blinders off, as Zamardii suggests. Those games from Naughty Dog are almost unanimously lauded as the best of the best. You'd be hard pressed to find other games with more attention to detail in terms of character animations, character development and dialog, and story/script.

That said.. it's gonna be a long 2-3 years before TLOU part 2 is launched. I cannot fuggin wait. I bought the first one twice (on PS3 and again remastered on the PS4) and am actually just picked up the Uncharted Remastered and am playing through them again since they first launched on PS3.

I loved the GT games on PS1 and PS2, but couldn't get into GT5 on the PS3 for some reason. I'd like to get back into them, but it seems Forza is doing a better job at the racing sim thing these days. Are they going to do any sort of Prologue or demo before the full game is launched like they did for GT5?

Same here. I bought a PS4 Pro 2 weeks ago and am replaying TLOU again. Looks great in 4K and HDR. The HDR for some reason is hard for me to notice, but I do on occasion notice the lighting and the colors in certain scenes seem to just pop.

I just want to add a bit of nostalgia for a sec; do you remember what it was like the first time playing The Last of Us and playing through the entire intro sequence? Other than the Half Life train ride, I think that is my favorite intro sequence of all time the entire time you are playing as Joel's daughter. I remember not being able to put the game down at all the whole way through just wondering what's going to happen next.

How could I forget?! The wife liked watching me play through the Uncharted games, so when I picked up TLOU and told her it's from the same people, she was pretty excited to watch after we put the kids down that night. We were both sucker punched from that intro.. it's quite the tear jerker, esp if you have kids and try to imagine that happening to you (trying not to spoil too much, heh). I'm definitely right there with you, with it being my fav intro of any game I can think of at the moment. The only one I can think of that comes close in terms of atmosphere and setting the stage for the game (besides HL that you mentioned too) is Metal Gear Solid. Whenever I have someone over that's a bit of a gamer, I love to bust out TLOU and show them the first 15 mins of the game so I can watch their jaws drop, lol. Hell I was playing it with my in-laws over when it first came out and they made me start over so they didn't miss anything and then watched me play through it again while they stayed at our house that weekend, hah. The story really is that captivating.

I loved the story/setting/acting in the Last of Us, but didn't really like the game much at all. It was like playing the stealth mission from Uncharted 2 for 6-7 hours until you finally got some firepower.
I might end up revisiting it at some point prior to the new one, though. Who knows - I thought Destiny was a total dud 2 years ago and now I love it.

Yeah, I can understand that; pretty much the only issue I've seen anyone have with the game is the gameplay. While I still found it pretty enjoyable, I think this is one of the few games where the gameplay kind of takes a backseat to the story and is more of a vehicle to deliver the story to you, rather than the other way around, which is the case for the vast majority of other games. TLOU and Uncharted are kind of the opposite of each other in this aspect, so if you want awesome game play with a decent story, you have Uncharted. Whereas TLOU is more about awesome story with decent game play. But I hate to even put it like that, because they're both overall pretty awesome games IMO.

Maybe you could think of the gameplay in this respect; that in order to survive they would HAVE to be stealthy. With the clickers able to kill you so quickly, and that many military people around with very limited resources they are in essence forced to be very careful. Also, the physical combat of the game was really emphasized which is to mean the brutality of it... you get up and close to the enemy. You can see the reactions on their face before you smashed their faces into the corner of a container... I remember reading one reviewer who talked about this point a lot which sets the mood and is a reflection of Joel; in essence the rage he harbors inside comes out in an already cold world without mercy that the brutality in which he kills people reflect him and the world he lives in.

To me, the gameplay if I looked at it simply from a gaming perspective I would agree but from a empathetic view in that I can imagine myself in their shoes I would be as stealthy as they are. I mean, the scarcity in the game of ammo and everything is also wonderfuly balanced. I can remember it being frustrating when I would try to go all stealth and save my bullets only for the hardest of engagements only to find that I can only carry 20 additional bullets for my gun until it didn't let me pick up anymore to which I was saying "Come on, you must have more room in that backpack." Lol. Anyway, I am getting off topic here but yeah I can't wait to see The Last of Us Part 2. I don't know what to make of it honestly as far as the story. Joel is still around and Ellie looks to be a couple years older. I am wondering who are all the people she wants to kill; the fireflies maybe? I wonder if Joel's lie will come out during it at some point (being purposefully vague here).

There is more to a game than story. An good story, even if generic, is helpful. But that gameplay looks dull. Even a good story can't carry gameplay. Doesn't mean it is a terrible game, but the shooting and moving mechanics are your typical 3rd person shooter stuck in the early 2000s. Doesn't mean it is a horrible game, but it is more or less a highly polished, better Spec Ops The Line. Interesting story with lack luster gameplay. 3rd person shooters really need to get pushed to the wayside, and those that remain really need to start innovating gameplay wise.

Honestly, once you play it come back and let us know b/c it is universally loved by those who have played it. It's an amazing, visceral, and emotional journey. It may not be your thing, but if you ever find yourself in a position you need to try it. I personally would never say what you're saying without trying it first.

I think my issue revolves around a lack of intensity to the sneaking around. Unlike some other games, it never made me nervous or tense. I just felt annoyed and hopeful that I'd eventually move on to the next section. I found the first 75% of the game to be tedious. Plus (like Uncharted 4), there are a lot of areas to explore filled with lots and lots of nothing. I hate when games do that. Just make it linear if you aren't going to flesh it out. It wasn't horrible or anything, but it made for a better movie than game. I rarely enjoy playing the game, but the plot kept me going.

Pretty much echoes my sentiments, exactly. The narrative is top-notch, but I feel it fails as a video game. There are so many other games out there these days that get both the story and gameplay right that The Last of Us just feels mediocre by comparison due to its gameplay failings.

Uncharted 4 is 2/3 Uncharted 1-3 and 1/3 the Last of Us.
It has far more narrative moments and large areas filled with nothing, but it's still mostly Uncharted at its core.
On the plus side, the game has been patched to remove its overbearing motion blur and it now supports (very subdued) HDR.
Once the DLC hits, there will probably be some sort of "complete" or GOTY edition that includes all of the goodies at some point.

I completely share Zamardii and T4d's love for TLOU and Uncharted. Simply put, they're the reason you buy a system. The awesome stories, the unbelievable attention to detail in terms of animations and world detail, the sound, atmosphere, etc. It's all there, and it's all there IN SPADES. These things coming together is what defines gaming, I'm sure, for a lot of us here. Those little moments where you're awestruck make for some great memories.
