I am mainly interested in just OC'ing my video card a little bit, since I can't immediately see anyway to overclock the CPU. I hope this is in the right forum.. maybe it should go in Video cards, I am not sure :|

At any rate, my 3DMark 2001 score was 6,450 when it was new. Since then I updated the drivers, upped the engine clock 32 mhz, and the memory clock 33 mhz. I now get a score of 7,310.

My main question is.. how far should I go? Should it even be that high.. am I risking anything? I am a relative OC'ing newb. 860+ 3dmarks over stock seems to be a healthy increase, especially when we are talking 6k's. Just want to know if this is safe or not.

Thanks for any help!

what video card do you have? what laptop do you have?

as far as OCing the video card, just keep going untill you get artifacts then after that back off a little on the OC untill you dont get any artifacts

as for OCing the CPU, im pretty sure you cant do it. its a prebuilt computer and prebuilts dont allow for overclocking

The laptops in my sig.

Geforce 5200 FX Go

Aye, I will try that. Just wanted to know if I could break it, hehe. Thanks!

What sig?

EDIT: ME = total n00b here. Didn't have sigs turned on.

Laptop + overclocking = bad news. Laptops underclock themselves when heat becomes a problem. Forcing it to run higher = bad news.
