Playing video games locks up my comp

Yesterday i got new Maxtor Sata hard drive...i never had locking up problem

But now after playing for little bit....any game, it locks up the computer...and i have to manually restart. But other then games, there no other problems.

Could this be the Hard drive? also HD is Sata 2, but my mobo is Sata 1...could this be the problem?

and there is small pin on the hard drive, that limits transfer to 1.5GB
 
The only thing I can think of is that the new hard drive is putting that much more stress on your power supply. Can you check your +12, +5, and +3.3V readings in the BIOS?
