So my new 22" Gateway has the composite hookup so I hooked up my ps2 to it, but soon realized I can't get any sound...

The monitor only has the Yellow composite cable hookup for video, and it has no built in speakers...my computer has a red composite jack, but I think it's only for output? How can I play games with sound?

get an RCA to headphone jack size plug, and put the sound in via your line in on your comp.

that SPDIF could be input or output, but the PS2 uses a fiber optic SPDIF port, not RCA.

Ok cool, I'm just going to buy a RCA to Audio-In converter from radioshack

SPDIF isn't RCA? I'm a somewhat noob to audio equiptment, I always thought that was a RCA jack on my comp, same size and color...strange

SPDIF can come in both RCA and Fiber Optic (not sure what else), or at least i have had both on some mobo's - my sony receiver has an RCA / Coxial single jack in for audio, but also can come in a fiber optic set up as well.
