Hi guys,
I have a stupid question about my graphics card installation (Asus EAH6950). The PCI connector pin sets and the crossfire pins on top are each covered with a plastic cap. If I'm not using it in a crossfire setup, ie I don't use the crossfire pins, do I leave the cap on or do I take it off? i would imagine take it off in case the card (over)heats you don't want melted plastic dripping on it. But I thought I'd ask - there's no catastrophic danger in leaving the pins exposed without the cap, is there? I probably made your day with this post for a few of you but thanks a lot!

You can leave them on or off, it shouldn't affect anything on the card. At least for me, I've never seen or experience any problems. I hope this helps.

Your card would be in flames long befor that plastic would melt from your gpu overheating... Leave it on and protect the pins, unless it is really clashing with your color scheme and you just can't take it. Won't really hurt either way.

Asus and Msi are the only two companies that ship cards with those plastics caps. That should probably tell you how much they are needed.
