Plasma resolution question

Because the pixels are not square they are rectangular. Each pixel is pretty much 16:9. You'll find this in many smaller plasmas, because the pixels tend to be pretty big.

Yes the pixels aren't square but rectangular, it simply scales the image to fit the resolution.

For High Definition tvs it only has to have enough vertical pixels to be called HD, its not necessary to have all 1280 or 1920 pixels across. Due to limitations of plasma technology its hard to get small enough pixels for full 1280x720 or 1920x1080 resolution on 42" and smaller displays.

This doesn't mean it will have a poor quality picture, but it won't be as sharp as one with full native resolution and isn't as well suited for use as a computer display.

Sony never made very good plasmas, and stopped making them a few years ago. So you're getting a dated plasma, probably without a lot of the anti-burn-in improvements plasmas have gotten in the last few years.

In addition, the ALIS panels have never been as good as the Panasonic, Pioneer, etc.

It'd better be an awfully good deal, as in, under $1400.

It is well under 1400, heh. I plan on playing video games with this, and I always turn the tv off when I pause it (so hopefully no burn in issues). Will the icons/logos on TV channels burn into the tv if I watch them to long.. For example the history channel H on the bottom right of the screen?

not only will those history channel things hurt you but any movie you watch with the letter boxes will hurt you, any time you have a game with very consistant in game settings....like madden selecting plays, and FPS with all that crap about your life, ammo and shizz......

That is a bad plasma, and its not even worth gaming on. Free yes, if i had to pay a single cent for it....i wouldn't.
