Im planning on doing my very first case cutting mod on my next case (after a practice cutting on old cases). Here are some pictures of what I plan to do... How difficuly will some of these cuts be? there aren't any real round shapes so im thinking it wont be too difficult.

(Yeah I borrowed VH's pictures, but im not hot linking. :p)

I plan to put a red cothode light inside next to the side panel and use red led lights for the front door. So what do you guys think of my plan?

hi
out of 10 it probly go a 6 depending on your dremeling skills

It all depends on how good you are with a dremel. I'd suggest having it completely marked out in permanent marker what you want gone before you cut. Then just cut until you can't see the marker :)

I would say the most difficult part if you are cutting out the "Transformers" part would be to get those little circles in the O's and R's to stay there without anything around them :D

Really though, this isn't a tough mod. Just plan it well and you'll do fine.

Why assume that a Dremel is the tool of choice?
For straight cuts like these a jig saw would be infinitely faster and easier.

Instead of doing a "stencil" effect to keep the holes solid on the O and Rs, what if you got some thin wire and used that to brace the holes up from behind? Maybe soldering won't work, I dunno, might have to tack weld. :D

make the wires black or some other color that will make them inconspicuous. Would be a tad easier and look better too. Anybody know if that would even work?

Being that my first mod was cutting windows and fan holes, using a jig saw with the type
of cuts you design is gonna entail wouldn't be hard at all, you just got to remember to go at
it slowly and brace the jig saw against some kind of straight edge.

Also I would suggest to make a cut for the outline of the Autobot symbol, so that it looks less
like a cat than it does.

Problem with doing the outline is that it would have to tough the cuts (black lines), I don't know how I woould keep up the metal in the middle. If you could draw what you mean, I would appreciate it. :)

You gonna have plexi behind it? If so you can just glue the metal to it where its thin and in the lettering.

Yeah I will be adding plexi behind the cuts, I thought I could just glue it on from behind, or even cutting it so it fits perfectly in the cuts so its flat with the metal.

Got acouple crappy cases laying around that im gonna practice on. Im in no rush.
