Okay, for my birthday I'm going to buy a new graphics card for my system, which is in august. Since I know that all the new next gen stuff will be out then what kind of price drop do you think the 9800XT is going to have? If it will go below 300 that would be fine, but since I wasnt looking at the prices on cards last time a big release was happening I don't know for myself how much it'll actually fall. Someone help me out?

i dont think the 9800xt is that much better than the 9800, especially to warrant the huge price increase. Am i wrong?!

well... technically no. But if I have the money I'm already going 2nd best (which i usually hate to do) I don't need to go down to 3rd, since I'm not too big on overclocking yet. But the budget I have cant support the newest radeon or geforce card and get a DVD burner, audigy 2 and a new UPS, so, I'm sure ya know how that goes.

i'm going with 3rd best - 9700pro. i bought one for a friend of mine on ebay for $140. $140!!!

Uhm... 9800XT being second best?

I guess you mean after the new card has been released...

heh, 2nd best, 9700 3rd best... I'm somewhere along 8th best... good ol' Ti4200 cranking along side my Geforce 4 440 Go and Geforce 2 MX desktop... lol

I like $150 video cards, that's the sweet spot. the vanilla 9800 should be edging towards that pricepoint soon... Something to keep in mind, the difference between the 9800np, Pro and XT is only clockspeed and cash.
