planar 17" any good?

I have the Planar PX171m. Excellent screen... absolutely no complaints.
 
I have seen pictures of Dell LCD's being able to display things in "portrait" or "landscape" mode. I was wondering if this is something specific to Dell LCD's or is it just some sort of program that allows this with any LCD?

Are the Planar 17" LCD's able to use this function?
