Placing network equipment near electrical components

Would it be an issue if I had my network equipment (switch, router, modem) mounted roughly 2 feet away on the wall from my circuit breaker panel? None of the equipment will be near any power wires and the Ethernet cable will not run near any power wires either. I'm trying to plan out my home network install before the parts come.

Thanks!

2ft should be fine. Honestly I have seen business clients who have network cable wrapped around power lines or over fluorescent lights and it worked fine for them. I prefer to be a bit of a stickler to the EIA/TIA codes by keeping the network cables at least a foot away from power lines and 3ft away from fluorescent lights, motors, and other devices that create a lot of EMI.

you can plug a high-amperage-drawing device into that line and watch smoke come out of your switch/network card! electrical induction is fun!

breaker boxes are grounded, so no EMF would escape. You should be ok, no matter how close you are.

In one of my clients old buildings they had their entire server rack no more than 3 feet from a transformer for the building lol, it ran fine never an issue. I thought it was kinda scary since i have heard a transformer blow before

As long as your electrical is installed up to code it should be fine. As others have said EMF can be an issue but assuming it is properly grounded it should be ok. In a perfect world you would want some separation but we all know that the real world is almost always far from perfect conditions.

Thanks for the info guys! I'm going to get started with the install soon! :D

Everything was recently inspected and passed.

Same here. It probably won't do anything or harm anything, but I like going by the book on that stuff. It's just the way I am. :)
