Placement conundrum.

Okay. so me and a friend not tooo far away are sharing wireless. Because I'm sharing a house with my landlord and he rents his apt outright, we thought it would be better for him to sign up for the internet (rather than deal with my landlord) so anyways. I get an amazing connection at 1.4MB/s at my car. problem it, it's parked infront of the house. and I am at the rear of the house. I have a can ready for conversion into a cantenna. but I would like some other opinions on my conundrum. I've also thought of a battery operated wireless repeater that would charge when my car is on (feasible?) Or mounting my antenna ontop of the roof (need to get the go ahead from owner.

Currently I'm using an AWLL-3055 +10dBi antenna. would a cantenna be much more powerful than this? should I just run the usb adapter to the front of the house? or ontop of the roof?
