Anyone have this game yet? I absolutely adored the original (although I played the NES version and not the PC) and I can't wait to go pick this up tomorrow!

ARRRR!!!

:p

I went to EB yesterday and they hadn't got their shipment yet. BB didn't have it either. I'm going to go to Gamestop during lunch today.

I got it, played maybe 20 minutes while WoW was installing ;)

So far, it's Meh to me. That's only 20 minutes of play. I'll get back to it, someday.

If it's anything like the first one (which I played pretty consistently for about a year), it takes a little time invested to really get into it.
I look forward to reading some good stuff on it from you guys.
Personally, I think it's doomed, due to games like Doom3 and HL2. Today's gamers have no sense of nostalgia. :p

I just picked it up and am installing it now. I never played the original, so I don't know what to expect but I really like the time period. I'll check back in with my thoughts.

The Gamestop by work here didn't have it either.
I'm going to have to check the one by my house after work.

I swear, someone is against me getting this game.

played it last night :) had fun :)

so far its pretty much identical to the original, which isnt a bad thing at all :)

I picked it up Wednesday night and prompyly played a solid 5 hours that night. Since then I have clocked in at least 10 hours total.

I have to say, I really like it. The idea of having to dance with Gov's daughters to win their favor is really a lot more fun and practical than it sounds. Sea battles are fun, but I have to remember not to try and chase down a sloop in galleon :p you'll never catch them like that.

So far, I'm and English Duke and a Spanish Marquis. I have to pillage more boats though as I'm only the 4th to the top Pirate. I also really like the mini-game to attack towns.

All in all, this game has it all, a little RPG, a little RTS and a hell of a lot of adventure. Now that I'm on Swashbuckler the swordfights are a lot harder. I think I'll drop back down to Journeyman and practice a bit more.

The replayability of Sid Meier's games are always way up there. I played the original, and have put this one on my list to get. I still play Alpha Centrauri now and then, and my wife enjoys the Civilization (the one's Sid worked on, the others were less than good).

And pirates are cool, to that helps.

Peace,
Tim
