Legendary golfing equipment manufacturer Ping announced this week a new accessory to improve your putting skills. The putting app is free, but you will need to purchase a customized cradle to hold your device containing the app. If you’re an avid golfer, check out the iPutter. :D

So who is Apple going to sue first for using the name Ping, which they clearly invented from scratch for their new social networking service? The Golfing accessory company, or everyone responsible for the command line utility? Don't forget evil Microsoft, who obviously copied Apple by just changing one letter to come up with Bing. Everyone has it in for poor Apple.

Also, make an Android app, otherwise I don't care.

They are just trying this out on putters. Once they come up with a stronger cradle, you know it is going to end up on the other 13 clubs in your bag.

But then they would have to make like 50 different cradles :p

Unless they went the WakeMate route and came up with a bluetooth like device that had the same necessary sensors (maybe more?) that snapped on the putter. Your phone would remain in your pocket, bag, belt .. whatever. If it's small (and secured) enough, it could work on all clubs.

It does seem pretty cool. Be more useful for driving and irons imo.

a similar product, but the attachment is a tee on the iphone. it will tell you if you are getting any grass by a super realistic, high resolution series of cracks on your iphone, and will be a number of feet away depending on how much too low, and how hard you swung your club
