OK yes this is one of those annoying "hey I just got a ...." thread
But what can I say I'm excited!
I just got a A64 3500 computer to go along with my videocard (see sig)
just recently bought a seagate sata 160 harddrive (for 100 bucks pretty good deal)
So now I still want to get better memory but it'll do for now

It's a great feeling knowing I can run pretty much anything (currently) and for a while without any fear of requirements. I've pretty much have been that person who had "3 generation behind" hardware. Mentality when upgraded back then: better than what I have now.

Well I finally can say I have a premium machine that I'm all giddy like a nerd ;)
So I ask you this, when do you remember having your first "top dawg" machine?

*and yes I know...some of you are going to simply say " ...uh...who cares" but I'm curious about other people who have had that happy moment*

i get happy building any pc really. But the higher end the more happy i get . I will be excited like you once i get to test out the a64s

I'm bored and drunk damit! post and entertain me!
what's youre FIRST machine that made ya happy!

I built my first "top dog" machine about 2.5 years ago...

problem is, i'm still using the same machine :(

386 with the lil turbo button :) i swear windows 3.1 loaded a bit faster with that thing pushed in.... :D

*laughing*

OH my god the turbo buton!
Did that thing reallly eer work?

the 2.5 years ago...I know your pain..been there done that

i want to do a modern mod, and put in a turbo button. Hit it and the cpu goes OC'ed
what do ya think?

My case has a "Turbo" button... when pressed, the fans go faster.

It's gotta be when I got my emachines 600is in december 2000 celly 600mhz 32mb ram I could actually run all the new software :D

I was a huge jump from my Pentium I 100mhz 80mb ram, it was struggling on simcity 2000 :p

Well I WAS happy about getting my P4 1.6ghz mobile until it decided to hate the mobo :( now I'm stuck with 400mhz

my 90mhz pentium 1 with 8 megs of ram and windows 3.1 had no problem at all with sim city 2000.

did they have adware back then? :p

Yep, same boat. asus k7v @ 1ghz. Too bad that mobo fried. Oh well, been using the same core components (sans vid card upgrade every 2 years). I was stuck in the "Buy upper-mid-range" mentality until I just broke down and ordered a64-3200 system. Well, everything except the vid-card (damn backorder). I dont want to run it with a ti4600 yet... I want that "New computer" feel....

the damn turbo-button more or less translated into an instant-freeze-and-hardlock-button on my 386 system... i rarely used it :D

first top-dawg system: celery300a@416 if i remember correctly. PLUS i was instantly one of the bad-ass overclockers you always had heared of. ;)

I was pretty happy putting together my current system. Dual 3Ghz Xeons (virtual quad processor ;) ), Dual Raptors in Raid-0, a $500 FireGL card. Built it over a year ago and still kicks some serious ass today. I can be pretty proud of that.

well, I must say that I got happy when I saw this subject, but it was too soon...

doesn't a "pimped out" system have to be in some way "pimped out"??? Seems like normal off-the-shelf crap with otherwise nothing special to it. No "pimped out" case or mod... not even top-of-the-line gear..... this is all mid-range in the grand scheme of things.

Mmm........Now THATS an idea! Gotta think on this one ;)
The logistics on this may be pricey though. I think it would have to be a windows level software o/c......and most changes made require a reboot...........writing the proggie  ......additional aggrivation

Still a nice idea.
