Your mission:
To give me upgrade options for my tired gaming PC but keep the cost below $600 (tax & shipping incl.). I play WoW and FPS shooters and typically watch 6-8GB blu-rap rips on my smaller screen while playing WoW.
Current Hardware
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6550 @ 2.7GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-UD3R Rev1
RAM: 8GB (4x2GB) G-Skill DDR2 (F2-8500CL5-2GBPK)
Video: BFG 8800GT OC
PSU: PCP&C 750W Silencer
HD: WD Black 640GB
Case: CM 690 II Advanced
Displays: Main - Dell 2407WFP (1920x1200)
Secondary - Sony SDM-HS94P (1280x1024)
Caveats:
- I'd prefer known hardware combinations that work. Also, I would prefer to re-use anything I can (ie HD, case, PSU)
- CPU - AMD or Intel I really don't care, I'm open to either.
- Video - I'm looking at a minimum of the GTX460 1GB or 5850, in that range.
- RAM - I have 4x1GB of DDR3 1066 I can use to hold me off until March if it means I can go with a better CPU or mobo now.
Begin!
(Specific form fields from sticky to be in compliance.)
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming - WoW and FPS. I do frequently like to watch 6-8GB blu--ray rips on my 2nd monitor while playing WoW. As of now I have to play them in a window, my current system can't handle them fullscreen while WoW is running.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$600, not too worried about tax and shipping.
3) Where do you live?
US
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, Mobo, Videocard and maybe RAM (if the DDR3 1066 I have won't work).
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Case, PSU, Monitors, Heatsink, RAM9 (if I can use DDR3 1066)
6) Will you be overclocking?
no
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
24" 1920x1200 (main for games) and 19" 1280x1024 (secondary for web)
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Parts for X-mas
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
SLI, would be nice to have, but not mandatory
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
64-bit Windows Home Premium
