Hello, I dont know much about parts and part quality in water cooling, Im looking for a setup below 200 that will be very sturdy because I take my computer to lans probably around every other week, I'm undecided if I want to cool cpu and gpu right now or cpu and nb. I was thinking wait on the gpu because im giong to get a g80 and couldnt it have different mounts? I would eventually go gpu or nb im leaning toward nb because im ocing my e6400 and the nb on the DS3 gets pretty hot. Ready.....GO

You're going to get a hundred different answers because everyone has their favorites. I have a system with two Swiftech radiators, a Swiftech pump, and four PolarFlo blocks. Some are going to swear by Danger Den, and I'm sure you'll hear names of other manufacturers as well. My advice would be to take it all in, read some reviews, and make an informed decision. Figure out what you want, come back with a list, and ask where to get the goods. I'm sure somebody will be able to provide you with a link or two. Now, let the deluge begin!
 
lol so i want to cool cpu and gpu or nb and i get a link to a kit for a cpu only haha thanks anyways though i might just look into that kit, looks high quality

There ya go, and if ya mention you are form hardforum, you will get a good discount. Bringing it very very close to $200 That is the whole shebang. According to most besites, this is the best kit out there. Do some research. But I think this would work really well with you. I use alphacool on my lan rig (I have used koolance, switched and aquacomputer this is the only brand I have used that has NEVER had a problem)

Not to be rude or anything.... but... 3 blocks (one of which being a NexXxos XP [read: very restrictive]) and a BIX on a Eheim Compact 600 pump? You, sir, must be out of your mind. That pump has a maximum sustainable head pressure of 4.3 feet (~1.86psig) and a maximum flowrate of 2.7 Gal./min. Any of the popular DC pumps (stock DDC+, modified DDC+, D5/MCP655, 50Z, etc.) would rape that little Eheim in terms of flowrate through that system.
 
Do I have to relive the whole hi flo vs lo flo battle.... I have a hose he could run in his system... Would it be good? He could run the top end kit from alphacool (ddc+) ect but that would cost a pretty penny more. And obviously you did not look at the price range he said and the components he wanted, in that range, this set-up kicks some serious ass... Idealy a storm, any decent pump, moded alphacool top, one of the good complete (ram and gpu) blocks, dual pumps, dual rads, maybe even a good northbridge block.... What do you think the cost on that would me? :eek:


Think of it this way... Someone needs to haul some wood for work, they ask for a cheap truck under 3 grand that will do the job. You reccomend a car for 5k that wont do what they need... Then you show them a truck for 27k... They can't afford it... Or you offer them an old skool blown out crappy ford (not to diss all ford just my dad had a truck like this) and it sucks, but does what the person asks, at a price he asks... Not really all that much better... Or you suggest a 1984 toyota 4x4!!!! Great truck that does everything he needs and is a great value...

That kit on many sites (check if ya dont believe me) does beter than nearly anything else, and definately better than anything in its price range...

If he has 500 to spend on cooling, great... If he nees a really solid reliable kit, that will work for a given price range, that does all he needs that is it.
Can you show me a more reliable kit that meets all his needs near his price range?

Eesh the Alphacool Complete Retail Kit has Aluminum and copper blocks.

I've had a BIX120 and it was the worst purchase of my young life.
 
dude, all of the blocks in the kit are copper.

and keep this in mind: if a pump with a 4.32ft head has to push water through three blocks and a rad (one of which is supposed to be very restrictive), how much flow are the blocks really getting?
