Picture sorting software?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that could maybe sort my pictures into folders for year and month, and give a unique name to every picture in the folders?

i want something like this:

year/month/uniquename.jpg

help? :)

Well, I have a lot of pictures that need sorting, and my camera restarts the naming process everytime i put in a new memory card. So there would be a lot of files that have the same name like 001.jpg

Would the regular windows rename not work for you? If you highlight a bunch of pictures (or any files actually) and then right click and pick rename (choose the first one) you can then type in your new file name plus the extension and it will add a "(1),(2),(3) and so on to the file names. Maybe this isn't exactly what your looking for, but I bet you can get a free "re-namer" online. Oh, and I'm fairly certain you can't have slashes like in your example, perhaps "year-month-uniquename.jpg" would be acceptable.

I use the program 123renamer also called File And MP3 Tag Renamer for things like this. Been using it for years to manage my collection. It has so many options for renaming files, making consecutive file numbers ect... i don't think it will rename/create and move files into folders (at least ive never tried that) but it will be able to handle the groups of files themselves.

I didn't want the slashes in the filename. What I meant was I want them in folders like that. Like one folder could say 2010, then the sub folders would be the months, and inside those subfolders I want pictures that I took that month.

Sorry, the first post wasn't so clear on that. Thanks for the suggestions so far, guys!

you say your camera restarts the number process with every card, did you check the setting of your camera to see if you can set it to continous naming?
