I'm looking for ways to dress up the back of my video card. Its a G92 8800gt. The green pcb just doesnt fit the look of the case. I'm thinking just to put some sheet metal across the top of it mounted to the 4 holes at the corners.

Anyone have some pictures of this kind of thing?
 
Wouldn't that short out the card? I think putting a big piece of metal on there would bridge soldered connections that weren't meant to be bridged. Unless you insulated it with plastic or rubber, in which case all you'd need to do is cut one to fit the card, drill holes in the appropriate places, and replace the screws holding your cooler with longer ones to compensate for the extra thickness.

Of course, I avoided all this by picking a card that had a nice-colored PCB :D
 
I don't know, someone spray painted there GFX card once, but I don't know how safe that is...
Then on the same website I think.. I saw someone who had UV cathodes in their case, use UV reactive Gel Pens, and then they outlined all the circuitry on the back of the board... but it did look pretty slick.
 
I just make sure whatever I buy has pretty PCB lol. That was the deciding factor in my asus motherboard.
 
You want to use stand-offs regardless so the back cover material stays flat, not bowed clearing surface-mount components on the back of the card (especially if the material is smooth/reflective, such as a glossy picture or piece of thin acrylic). Maybe just a nylon washer or two - an 1/8" is a bit much.
