I've been trying to connect my laptop to my tv via hdmi and have had some trouble with some key resolutions.Whenever I run a resolution such that the TV detects it as 720p or 1080p there is a noticable bit of cutoff on all sides of the screen. I did have luck creating a custom resolution of 1366 x 768 and with i bring up info on the tv it labels it as such, however for anything labeled by the tv (and nvidia drivers) as 720p or 1080p i lose a bit of the picture. I heard this might have something to do with overscan but have no idea how to fix this. Anyone have any idea?

It's a vizio va26lhdtv if that helps.

There's three thing's you'll need to look for:

1st.) Make sure that your TV is set to 1:1 pixel mapping (This will be called different names on different TV's).

2nd.) Make sure you don't have the image zoomed in or stretched in any way with your TV.

3rd.) Check your video driver output settings from your laptop. If your laptop video card is an ATI, then you may need to set it up for 0% Overscan.

Hope this helps a bit.

go figure call two different tech support guys and neither were of any help. For some reason whenever I select 720p as my resolution it initially looks fine then suddenly flashes to the stretched screen. Is there some way to trick my drivers to have the output as a resolution and not 720 or 1080p because I created 1366 x 768 as custom resolution and so that runs fine and when I click info on tv it says "1366 x 768" however and resolution offered under "Hd" (Various things listed under 1080i/p 720i/p including ones other than the standard) gives the issues, some resolutions more than others. I'm thinking if there were some way to delete 1280 x 720 from the resolutions offered under hd and create it as a custom res not read as 720p it may work, anyone have any idea how to do this with nvidia drivers?
