reading the specifications, the memory clock says 600mhz. seems kinda low for nvidia, since the 5950 is at 950mhz. maybe its slow because of the gddr3:confused:

Wow thats awsome! I notice only 1 molex which is cool. Mabey 2 was only for reference? Im excited to see this in action! Great Post

i also just noticed it only has a connector for one power molex cable. every other pic ive seen has two. weird

edit: lol we posted that at the exact same time:D

That's a decent article, but I feel the person is somewhat biased towards Nvidia.

Max. PC has always been controversial, they had some wrong information on thier website about the 5800 I believe and was called on it and proven wrong before the magazine went to print yet they still printed the misleading info.

Take what they say with a grain of salt, good for pictures but not for facts.

This thread is in violation of Maximum PC's copyright and should be deleted immediately, as it puts [H] in a SERIOUSLY actionable position. (IE sued and will lose type of action)

Removing the images like now would be a good idea, Bad_boy...
Like now.

i guess your right according to the rules.

guess I'll wait for my issue to come in the mail since everyone here is afraid of getting sued... lmao

i doubt anybody from max pc is gonna sue anybody ...its just the [H] mods...i dont wanna get banned or anything lol. they are too [H] ;)

postcount ++ :rolleyes:

initially this thread was nice the article was actually pretty good for a break down to how the card works and showed some nice pics of the card with a single molex on it......and the thread is still worth something since you can still view the origanal thread via the link provided.

change your name to Fan_Boy

this guy actually has the nerve to say Nvidia has superior Anti-Aliasing compared to ATI and then claims to be unbiased

who was talking about AA, i was talking about AF. and i never said superior. i said acurate. and i said that from reading ZenOps's post.

ZenOps:
Nvidia's AF is not superior, it is more accurate. Being more accurate alone does not make it superior though.

ATi's AF allows for further levels of AF will less performance hit, 16X is standard but I have heard that it goes all the way to 256X (but ATi will not let users select this setting as it would really slow things down)

This is an approximation: ATi at 16x is just as accurate as Nvidia at 8x at certain angles (like 45 and 90 degrees) at other angles, ATi is better. However, Ati is faster even with the greater depth.

ATi at 8x compared to Nvidia at 8x, Nvidia is more accurate at all angles, ATi is only accurate at some angles.

The NV40 is superior in technology in a couple ways for sure:

With FP32 support. It is also superior with Pixel and Vertex 3.0 support.

By contrast ATi only has FP24 and pixel and vertex 2.0 (with a few 3.0 thrown in)

I would think that an image rendered with Nvidia's "might use" hybrid FP32 for closeup textures with FP16 for faraway, and maybe the sky at INT12 would look better and be much faster than a full screen FP24 that DX9 and ATi use.

There is no need for a texture that might be the rendered equivalent of a few miles away to be rendered in FP24. At that range INT12 should be adequate, and would probably boost peformance quite a bit. Its the same idea as using less polygons on character models that are only a few pixels high, really far away.

As for how long it will take to see these games... Well, honestly it might take a while. UT2004 is still pretty well DX7. Pixel and vertex 3.0 has promise, but most videocards still have the vast majority of die space dedicated to speedy fixed function calculations.

maybe you need glasses?
and once again, whos the fanboy? like ive been saying for a while, ill buy the better card. if the r420 is better, you best beleive ill be getting it, and same for the nv40.

By the way:

Liquid....your starting to make some news :D
http://www.3dchipset.com/

Looks like one magazine has released a preview of the GeForce 6800 video card from nVidia. If you happenedly own a subscription you probably have received the magazine. For those who buy it in news stands I think still has to wait a couple of days. For those who don't want to pay $7.99 for a fricken ad riddled magazine LiquidX has scanned the 4 page article on the GeForce 6800 video card from nVidia. What I liked seeing was the "Dual DVI". If the Radeon X800 doesn't come standard as Dual DVI then the nVidia card is on my purchase block.

Here is a .zip package of the 4 page article cropped and sharpened:

Isn't GDDR-3 Quad-pumped? If so then, it's 600x4=2400MHz sdram. If GDDR-3 isn't quad pumped, what's the point of the double latency then? It just makes things a LOT worse for unpredictable redres, such as games.

The fanboi has always been strong with MaxPC. They really shouldnt be comparing an NV40 and a R360. Anyhoo, as always everyone seems to forget nVidias standard uber-hype 2 weeks before each product release, and then it turns out to be shoddy or just plain so-so.

We will see.

NV40 may turn out to be the messiah of 3D gaming, mabye not. We'll see. I have a feeling that NV40 v R420 is just not going to be the massacre nVidia fans are hoping for.

violence why does it always seem like you are in a bad mood whenever a NV thread comes along?
no body forced you to read what this thread was about....so why are you even posting in here...other than to bitch?

No problems. I had a Ti200 and a Ti4600. Great cards. Then something better came along and I bought it. Don't hate me cause I won't bend over and buy into hype.
