PicoPSU Streacom Question

All,

I want to get the PicoPSU 160XT with the 192Watt power brick combo off of mini-box, but the power brick uses a 4 pin din connection. If I was to go this route I would have to drill a larger hole on the back of the case. Are their any large power bricks that I can use with a PicoPSU that are not of the 4 pin din variety?

Yeah I am going to drill, I found out the inner circle requires a 11/32 drill bit. I ordered a titanium version off of amazon, I just can't find any information on the smaller two screws. I tried asking mini-box if they had a template or any additional information, but I am still waiting to hear back from them.

I went with the asrock mobo, because I got a combo deal at micro center for $160 for both the processor and motherboard. Also the cooler doesn't fit any of the other itx 1155 motherboards that micro center carries.
 
Just drill it. That's what I did!

EDIT: I think you're going to need a bigger drill bit. It has to be slightly larger than the plastic housing that surrounds the metal piece of the adaptor. Can't remember what I used for the screws, sorry. I suggest you buy a cheap drill bit set from your local hardware store. Also, I'm not sure that cooler will fit - it *might* hit the drive mounting bracket.

Once you get the power adapter, you can measure the screws/Mini-Fit-JR adapter that should come with it. I'd think the Noctua NH-L9i should fit, unless Streacom is measuring off the top of the motherboard. Keep us posted.

The nh-l9i fits with ease. I think it might even fit with a 3.5 drive. I'll take some pictures tomorrow.
 
Great! Guess you probably need some clearance between the top of the fan and the HDD or top of the case. Look forward to seeing the pics.

How much space do you have between the case fan and the motherboard? Kinda annoying that they place the power connector there on some motherboards.
 
There is a metal bracket about 5mm away from the mobo that the fan connects to.
 
Thanks, looks like another 5mm would be a little better for those PicoPSU wires? Forgot to say that I like the case too!

Did you by chance ever hear back from Mini-box about the specs for the hole sizes? Could you measure the screws that came with the PicoPSU?
 
I posted the spec and diagram above. Is it not visible? I do notice it does not have the 4-pin mini-plug hole size which is 10mm. I use a 13/32" drill bit when I create the mounting plates for these. The hole size for the screws really doesn't matter since it screws into the plug shown above. The screws are M2.5. I think I use a 3/32 for those holes.
 
Ya, I can't see the image. Just a broken image icon (opening link results in 404 status). Thanks for the hole sizes. Does it show the positioning of the holes?
