Just started like a week ago the only thing changed was the paint on our house which I doubt is a factor. I'll be sitting here with my headphones on then all of a sudden I hear a crackle then hear people talking on there cell phones when they drive past my house. It usually only happens a few times a day and I can hear them crystal clear for a couple seconds.


edit: Just noticed my tv also gets staticy to. I dont have cable tv.
 
LOL, that would suck, if your playing a online game, you could confuse your teammate with the person driving bye.lol

Are your headphones wireless or wired?

OMG, I thought I was hearing voices! Something like this has been happening to me too. I'm using wired headphones and can hear a person talking, oh, maybe once a week. It's so weird.
 
My TV and stereo crackle in my room when my GF brigns her celly in my room. Even if no one is calling it sometimes cuases(I cant spell today) my TV and stereo(not on) to crackle and beep.

It happens to the TVs in the school when people text each others too.
 
Those of you picking up cellphone calls are most likley hearing someone using an old-style analog phone that uses the low 800mhz or so bandwith ranges similar to those used by older cordless phones and also some wireless headests as well as other wireless devices. I'm positive you're not picking up anyone that is using a phone connecting digitally to their cellular network as all you would here in those types of instances would be just staic as you'd be hearing the transmission of 0's and 1's almsot like listening to your modem when its online, only not, if you catch my meaning. The short of this is not to be too freaked out because as you know already this isn't a terribly common occurence because there are fewer and fewer people every day using analog based cellphones. I work for a prepaid phone company that operates through verizon and we don't even activate those old phones for our dealers anymore. Hope this helps to give some info and to quell some fears of privacy violations.

If he's in a rural area with older cell towers he might actually be hearing cell conversations. You're right as usual though - the most likely culprit is interference from an older analog phone.

Either way you can stop the interference by magnetically shielding your headphone or speaker cable. Any ferrous metal such as Iron will do the job brilliantly. Just get some 3M shielding tape and wrap it around the impacted cords. If you can't find any locally this site has everything you need.

If you're really serious they even have paint laced with iron strands. You could turn your whole house into a Nuclear War / Golden-Eye bunker! :D

I can do this in my apartment pretty easy.
Wired and wireless

Audiobahn wireless headphones. 3 channels to choose from, the second one picks up the neighbor's landline cordless phone with easy. Crystal clear.

Creative 7.1 speakers. They buzz right before I get a cell phone call, and they mumble when the neighbors are in their far right room on the phone.
