Fortron 530: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-104-968&depa=0

Sparkle 530: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-489&depa=0

Enermax Noisetaker 485: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-457&depa=0

PC specs will most likely be
AMD 64 ~ 3500
1 gig ram
2 Sata HD's
1dvd burner
Geforce 6600GT
Couple CCFL's
3 fans

Might be slightly overclocking

I read the main sticky and some other threads here and Might be even more confused than when I started. At least I know what NOT to get :)

Regarding these 3 PSU's... Is any one of them better than the other? The Enermax looks nice Because I can control the volume/speed of the fans. But its more expensive, not as powerful? I don't know how loud the other 2 are.

Any personal preference? Thanks guys

Ah..Im a Powersupply noob. Ive always used the cheap generic ones I can find. But it looks like those days are over. My current system's PS is OK. But anytime there is a surge or drop in power or anything.. my system will reboot. I have a battery backup, but the PS cant supply power long enough for the Backup to kick in.

Are forton and the sparkle the same?

Yes, they are. Look at the model # on that Sparkle. FSP= Fortron Source.
I'd say go with the Noisetaker

Kain and Ice Czar have been helping me out with the same thing. The noisetaker is a hell of a deal, look at the compatibility fortron/sparkle v1.3 compared to the Enermax v2.0. You'll have a pretty good amount of room left over for upgrades as much power as the noisetaker puts out. I'm in the process of ordering the Noisetaker myself.

Ok. Looks like Noisetaker has the other 2 beat by recomendations..Only one problem
I found 2 different Enermax noisemakers on Newegg.. then 2 more different ones on mwave.com

Can anybody tell me the difference between these guys? Which one is better? They are all V2 and have dual 12v rails I think..

My head is spinning..

Just picked a supply for a similar system the answer to your question is that the difference between those two Enermax PSU is that the the model numbers with AX in them ie EG475AX have ACTIVE PFC which a home user will mostly likely not need while the model numbers with P in them ie the EG475P have NO ACTIVE PFC. Both prower supplies have the same specs in all other details. I just picked up the EG475P but might move up to the EG495P because the nvida 6800 cards are such power hogs. The extra 2~3A on the 12V rails should help

I'd just get the Fortron/Sparkle and not worry about power. Lol. But I haven't been impressed with Enermax's performance in the past.

Thanks a bunch Hiro400.. I went and did some searching in the forum's about PFC.. spent about a half hour frying my brain.

You guys keep making me do too much thinking and research :)

Ok. It looks like I am going to get the EG495P .. One LAST question (i hope) .. is that going to give me enough juice to do a little OverClocking on my AMD 64 3500+ system?
Not overclocking a lot, ill be using air cooling, and Stability is much more important to me then a few extra % of speed boost. I am not sure that im going to be OC'ing.. but I might for fun.
