I have an older backup system that needs a decent cheap power supply. Currently using a 300 watt antec that I don't trust
P4 2.4
Soyo MB with agp
6800 GS
optical drive
Cooler master cooler
One 80mm Fan
300 IDE (or something) WD drive

Are FSP power supplies still great on the low end? Or is there a better choice?
I generally build with enhance or Power PC&cooling units.

Calculator says 300watts is plenty.
Needs to be a cheap a possible and from newegg.

thanks

Don't know how long it has been since we built 300 Watt supplies. If you are looking to replace an old unit, I would recommend the EarthWatts 380 since it is efficient enough to help pay for itself and big enough to migrate to a new machine when you replace your backup rig.

You'll notice it's also lightweight. It use to be that you should buy a PSU by the pound. Now, modern components and efficient designs mean that the heat sinks don't have to be as big and the fan can be small and quiet.

I'll second the EA380. Just picked one up recently for a 754 A64 build and it's really a great unit..

If you run the machine 24/7, the EarthWatts might pay for itself with power saving. If you turn on the machine for a few hours per day or only occasionally, then the Basiq is the lower total cost option.
