PhysX in 1x slot?

Has anyone tried running a dedicated PhysX card in a 1x slot? I was thinking about a 9800GT.

My crossfire is currently running 16x - 16x, leaving me with two 1x (physical 16x) slots. I could go 16x - 8x on the crossfire, and 8x on the PhysX if I must.
 
I've never seen PCIe 2.0 x1 slots so I assume it's 1.0, but either one would severely bottleneck a 9800 I would imagine. What cards are you running in CF? Even the 5870 is not bottlenecked much (only a few percent) by 2.0 x8.
 
I am running 2 4850's. The slots are The two spare slots are 16x slots but are configured as 1x in the bios (to allow 16x/16x CF).
 
I am running a dedidcated PPU in a 1 X slot , but it is an actual Asus Ageia 1 X card.
