Photoilumincent case floor? Help with identification.

I have been looking for this for a long time after seeing it, But i can never find it. The time i saw it first was a [H] member you turn on the computer and the floor produces a glow.

I was browsing the mdpc list and saw this computer had it so i was wondering if someone here knew what it was and where i could buy some.

I think it's called Electroluminecent. Now i just need to find a place that sells it.

idk but you could prolly make it pretty easy just get some white plexi and some white led's and blamo there you go ;) happy modding

One member was talking about putting it in his case but ended up not doing it. Ill see if i can find it.

The post I linked to is in the worklog of a murdermod TJ07 (not the same one as on MPDC, but a similar one). AFAICT he used exactly the same softbox design for both. I don't think he used EL sheets at all. Though I could be wrong.
 
Yeah i see what you are talking about i just read the wiki page... It looks good, But im not sure how to make on like his.


He made a soft box using a electro chemical light inside.

Well, I think he was probably making that stuff about chemicals up. I think it's probably built using a CCFL or LED strip running the length of the side where the wire goes in (you can see it's slightly brighter on that side). Otherwise, it's looks like just a box of translucent white acrylic. There are probably some tweaks (e.g., roughing up the backside of the acrylic to pick up and scatter the light better) and no doubt he went through some trial and error to achieve that result, but it doesn't look like it'd be that difficult on the whole.

You could achieve a pretty similar effect using EL sheets, I would imagine, and probably more easily too.
