Phone May Not Have Killed Worker

Remember the guy we told you about yesterday that was apparently killed by an exploding cell phone battery? Remember we said that if the battery exploded after he died he would be the unluckiest man on the planet? Turns out he really was the unluckiest man on the planet....well, besides that whole "dying" thing. :(

The quarry worker, whose name has not been released, was found dead Wednesday with a melted phone battery in his shirt pocket, according to police. He also had a broken spine and ribs as well as heart and lung injuries.

Tomorrow the headline will read

"AHA! Worker was killed by cell-phone after all"

It seems that quarry worker 'Sum Dic" was working by a ledge when his cell phone had burst into flames. Worried that he may lose his only link to the WOW forums, Sum Dic started to flail his arms and beat on his chest in a futile effort to put out the flame. He consequently fell over the ledge of the quarry to his death resulting in a broken spine and ribs as well as heart and lung injuries. - And you thought you had a bad day :( -Steve

Someone lost their life, by the way.


I knew it wasn't the phone. The original article I read didn't say anything about additional injuries. So the phone caught fire or got so hot that it burned him through his shirt. He probably freaked out and fell. LG said the battery exploding was impossible. Probably a stretch, but I can't see a cell phone battery exploding enough for insta-death.
