Supports HDTV, Progressive Scan, 10000:1 contrast ratio, all the inputs i would ever need, and a bunch of other features. I found some stores online that sell for around $1900
 
My friend bought last week and he's pretty happy with this tv, and i was going to get the same set but than i started researching and comparing. came to conclusion that it is good but with 1024x768 resolution the Panasonic TH-42PX50U looks way way better, blacks are better, picture is stunning the best i think i've seen on HDTV's with 1024x768 resolution, and the price on the panny tv is slightly larger i think it is better buy, it also outputs 720p/1080i, I'm not sure but i think Philips doesnt support 1080i... i just have one drawback that makes wanna wait a little bit more, the resolution. 1024x768 isn't true HDTV from what i read and 1280x720 is which produces true HDTV picture with 720p, but i see many more tvs showing up with 1024x720 and look simply beautiful so i guess i may be just worry for nothing. the best way is to just compare tv at best buy or something like that where they have them displayed, i hope you found that somewhat helpful...good luck man
HDTV isn't a simple buy like i thought it would be :(
 
The Panny units do tend to get very good reviews. 768 is still considered true HDTV, it has to be capable of 1080i, 720p, or better.

By the way, no plasma can output 1080i. Pretty much they can all accept the signal, but then they deinterlace it into a 720p signal, and that is what is displayed. DLP, Plasma, LCD, all of the 'thin' techs can only actually display one resolution, everything else is done via de-interlacing and interpolation.
 
Damn, so there is no "perfect tv" for HDTV. I wanted to get a HDTV but in a thin unit. I guess I'll have to get a tube TV with flat screen to get the quality I would expect.
