these past 3 weeks have been pretty hectic. graduated college, moved all my junk back home, then loaded it all onto a moving truck and moved across the country from ohio to california (it cost me $200 to reregister my car and get a cali license - wtf?!). been getting things situated with the new apartment this past week and i start my new job tomorrow. the apartment looks like a bomb went off still, but its starting to look decent.

but good news is that ive got my boxen back up and folding as of today finally. booyah!

where abouts in california? i live in the redlands area.

good job on getting the boxen back up

Congrats on your list of accomplishments, school, move, new job, and folding again!

Now youll have to update the location next to name here in the forum! :p

i was in the southern bay around palo alto for a few years..

that is a good place.

As the beach boys once said......

"I wish they all could be california girls!" :D

Great to see you folding again! Now I have someone to race!

Fold on fellas!

haha, bring it on! although i only have 2 machines actively folding right now as opposed to 6 or 7 back at school. im sure ill see a decrease in my weekly production. oh well, a race it is!

I've done worse. I haven't been folding in several years. Just started back up this past weekend again. Nice to see Stanford still has my slot, but I'm now a "New Member" over at hardfolding. Oh well.

I'm right behind you guys! I probly won't make up ground till the fall when it cools down some though, my mobile xp boxen doesn't enjoy the heat here in he midwest, so I run it slower with alot less voltage right now. So when it cools off, it ramps up! And if I ever get a new work boxen its over. My puny 733 P3 here at work grinds out the tinkers SO slow. Everyone else here is getting P4 3.4's with HT, can't wait to fire that guy up.

Fold on!

make sure you get all the old boxen to bring home with you :)

i just found out that im getting a 3.something GHz p4 laptop tomorrow for my new job. fuck yes, im borging that shit.

Hopefully you don't have to put up with a loud-ass fan. All of my 2.66+ GHz laptops have fans that blast pretty good when they're folding. They do keep the lappy cool, but the irritation factor for the user is why I'm missing out on a lot of GHz here at the office. Enjoy that new folding power!

scratch that 3.something ghz laptop (was an over-estimate). i got a 1.8ghz mobile centrino instead. 1 gig ram. pretty slick system. brought it home for the first time tonight. im going to have to throw FAH on there shortly.

and as for the fan, i can barely notice it in the office, so i doubt ill hear anything when its sitting next to my 2 other boxen :)

I wish I got a computer working at lifeway....

*sigh*

I haven't even started there yet LOL :D

Actually, that 1.8 will probably do just about as much work as a 3 GHz P4 - although I haven't tested on myself. It should also put out a fraction of the heat since it's so much more efficient, which should allow it to use a much quieter fan. Fold on!

I agree, the Pentium M's will probly perform more like A64s than P4's. ie gHz isn't only thing that effects the cpu power.

Yeah, the sentiment with those is that the intangibles outweigh the pure GHz of the chip. I know thats how the A64's and regular AXP's are. I'd certainly like the opportunity to put an M through its paces... the lack of heat and low power requirements make it a sure winner.

O/T, flat half of IN, that make you a northerner?

Yeah muncie to be exact. And P-M are freaking sweet chips, although I'd still take an X2 over a yonah, it those ever come out.

yeah, ive definitely noticed that its burning through the current work unit that its on. i only have it folding overnight when i go to bed, and its knocked out 60% of a beefy unit in only 2 nights. i think it knocks out a frame every 25 mins or so, and on my amd 2800+ main box, it usually takes 30-35 mins.

I have a 1.5 Banias with a gig of ram in my laptop folding at 100%. It does get a little warm, but not too bad. I proped it up and point a fan at it to help with air flow. It pretty much chews whatever it gets with no problems, and is a little behind the pace of my Athlon64 3000+ desktop.

Interesting thing about it is of the 10 WU it's processed, 5 of them were 600 pointers, and it's finishing up the third 600 pointer in a row
