no i mean why go to a different socket at all with the fx series?

like am2 and am2+ are the same socket the new cpus should work in older am2 but whats to different about the fx socket F cpus that makes it need a new socket.

There is going to be 2 lines of Phenom FX the 8 Series for Socket AM2+ and the 9 Series for Socket F, the 9 Series is designed to work in Dual Processor motherboards for a total of 8 cores in a Single System!

Intel is doing the same thing with their Skulltrail platform, with 2 Socket LGA771.
 
So if this is true that this is all the speed AMD can muster up right now that also means that the Graphics cards are going to be slo also and all this talk of taking a lead with all the gpu and cpu's releases this year are just AMD's dreams. or a nightmare for us.:eek: I guess I will have to wait till next Christmas for help.

Amazing... I think there are other ISSUES you need to concern yourself with besides Hardware

The prices are decent for the consumer, but will AMD be making significant profits at those prices? No doubt they will be dropping after the holiday season

Does anyone know what the multi's are on these,more importantly the 95/9600's ? :confused:

All I need is the chip and a AM2+ mobo,got a few Thermalright lapped sinks,many new fans,AS5 and ICD7,plus a NIB HX620,a NIB G11,a NIB Lian Li PC600VB + custom side panel with window and 1/4 mesh,and I ordered another Raptor X + Samsung 203b-s which arrived on Friday morning.

In the short term,I will toss in a Asus EN7800GT until the Winter/Spring,when the real G80 succesor arrives.
 
I'm more excited about RS780 personally :p It's got UVD and smokes every other IGP out there :D I need to build a HTPC, since my main rig currently doubles as a HTPC and I want to separate the functionalities. Going to add another 24" LCD and run duals for work stuff (on the second thought... maybe I shouldn't make it easier to work from home...)
