Phantom power for mic?

I recently purchased a Studio Projects B1 mic to dabble with some home recording. I have an XLR to 1/4" mic cable and a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter to hook it up to either the Audigy2 in my PC or my roommate's Mac. My question is, do I need a preamp or some other device to provide phantom power, or will the computer provide this via the sound card?
