So my buddy has a Phantom 500, ordered it in January, and received it in mid-February (deployed overseas). Last week the fan in the PSU died, starting a reboot cycle when he'd play 3D games. We identified the fan and have replaced it since, with a standard case fan. This is a temporary fix as it would take 2 months to go through the RMA process, and we'll be back in the USA by that time, so it's really not an option anyway.
FWIW:
AMD 4400 X2, Abit AN8, XFX 7800GTX, couple of HDDs, DVD burner, SB Audigy 2zs, Lian Li PC60xxB
We've tried contacting Antec about it, but they want the whole PSU back, which, seems overkill to me, considering the remote location and the fact that it would take so long for him to receive the working one, when we have the 80mm case fan in there to cover it. Any advice? Any comments? I'm curious if this is a common occurance with this PSU.
