So i got my pg27uq but i see in windows screen soption the hz is only set to 98 hz and i cant choose 120/144 hz like the screen was ment for. I enabled the 144 hz ocd and updated all drivers and im using displayport cables that came with the card and the usb power cable is installed to.

I do have 970 gtx SLI and will upgrade when the right RTX ti card arrives for me.

But why am i stuck on 98 hz in windows..do this screen emulate the 144 hz once i start a game ?
Or how do this work ?
 
Drop from 10bit to 8bit, you are at the bandwidth limit of DP 1.4 which is 98hz 4k 10bit 4:4:4. You can hit 120hz at 4k 8bit 4:4:4.

You can instead drop the color "resolution" to 4:2:2 (or worse, 4:2:0) and keep 10bit, but usually fine text/menus/GUI elements will look like shit, at least they do to me. Plenty good enough for watching video (most formats already dropped the colors down already) but then you might as well run at 60, 30, 24 or a multiple whatever native hz the source is.

I think 4k 144hz bandwidth requirement means you have to drop to 4:2:2 on the current monitors? Dunno. There is DSC that can lower bandwidth requirements but no current monitor supports it AFAIK and it still is technically compression so no thanks.

Where do i change this 4:2:2 and will the new rtx 2080 cards support the screen better then
 
My X27 defaulted to 120Hz out of the box, I don't even know how to change to 4:4:4 and 98 Hz.
 
New cards won't change the bandwidth limits of the DP 1.4 on the monitor. As long as the card itself supports 1.4 there will be no difference other than performance in games.

FWIW 8 bit is all you need for 99.9% of games out there today. If you are gaming just drop to 8bit and get your max refresh. Leave the color at 4:4:4 so you don't ruin browsing, reading, etc.

10bit is nice to have for video, most media is encoded below 4:4:4, and I've never seen anything but custom/homemade stuff go over 60hz. (most is 24 or 30)

but how or where do i change the 8/10 bit option ? i just want at least 120 hz/144 hz but i dont know how to get it.

look at the picture..dosent it say 8 bit allready ?
 
In your nvidia settings, 8 bit and apply, it should let you select 120hz then. Might need to turn off HDR, at least in win10 current implementation. 144hz is an overclock which can glitch (aka not to spec) and will need 4:2:2, not worth it IMO.

No dropbox access here, not that I readily click them anyways.
 
But i cant even choose HDR..that option is gray for me..and where exactly in nvidia settings do you fidle with the 8 bit option ?
 
The GTX 970 has DisplayPort 1.2, so it cannot support HDR and/or higher refresh rates at 4K. You need a Pascal card or greater to get proper usage out of this monitor.

Also: aside from the HDR option you should be changing resolution, refresh rate and color depth through the NVIDIA control panel. Not the Windows Display Settings.

Also also: the display automatically limits color subsampling based on the refresh rate chosen and whether or not HDR is enabled. The following is with a card that support DP 1.4:

HDR + 98 Hz = Full RGB
HDR + 120/144 Hz = 4:2:2
120/144 Hz with no HDR = Full RGB
 
You are the only one i talked with that knows anything..get a job at nvidia and tell em the same..i just spoke with a support from nvidia and he gave me a driver fix that update my dp port to 1.4 after installation, but even after that patch got installed succed then i still cant get over 98 hz.
So with a new card ect RTX 2080 ti then i will be able to get 120/144 hz and even enable HDR right. But 120 and 144 hz reduce the text/image quality in 4 k mode..

So running 98 hz 4 k will get me the best image/gfx ? 4:4:4 ?
You cant use HDR in 144 hz mode ?
Or do you mean if i need the same quality for 144 hz then i must disable hdr ?

May be a limitation with the GTX 970. I have a GTX 970 lying around, but I really don't feel like whipping it out to test.

A GTX 10 or 20 series card will allow you to use all display modes, yes.

You can use HDR at 144 Hz, but the monitor will automatically use 4:2:2 chroma subsampling at refresh rates above 98 Hz.

Here is my display settings window with HDR enabled at 98 Hz (note I'm back on my Titan X temporarily):

This is at 144 Hz. Note that color format changed to YCbCr422 with no input from myself. The NVIDIA control panel only shows this color format in its list of selections if you choose to use NVIDIA settings over Default settings.

For what it's worth, I personally don't see a degradation in text and image quality with this monitor running at 144 Hz and 150% DPI scaling with 4:2:2 subsampling. However, since the games I play do not break triple digits at 4K resolution even with the 2080 Ti, I see no reason to not run the monitor at 98 Hz for full RGB. Make sure you make use of G-Sync.

EDIT: Adding my NVIDIA control panel to show list of available refresh rates with HDR enabled.

I realy cant change anything in nvidia regarding screen res. I tryed to force modes i created that wasent listed, but i got a black screen and had to go back to 4 k 98 hz.
But now i see you have 10 bit or is that a HDR thing ?

Maybe the HDR option is bugged since i use SLI ?

Yes, 10-bit is an HDR thing (it's part of the HDR10 requirements), but you can set it independently by changing the color settings manually in the NVIDIA control panel.

Looking into NVIDIA's developer site, it confirms my suspicions that HDR is not supported on Maxwell (900 series) cards. You do need at least a Pascal (10 series) card or higher.

The DPI scaling of 150% is the equivalent of about 110 PPI, or that of a 27" monitor with a 2560x1440 resolution. 200% is the equivalent of about 80 PPI, or that of a 27" monitor with a 1920x1080 resolution. 200% scaling should look huge on the monitor. Can you take a picture of the screen with your phone so we can see what it looks like? If you haven't, you may want to try installing the .INF or driver from the included CD.

As far as video games go, they do not respect the DPI scaling in Windows. It is up to the developer to properly scale the UI with resolution. Some games allow you to change the UI scaling independently of resolution. I do not play LoL or Warframe, so I don't know how they do UI scaling.

I like the 110 PPI for desktop use, so using the monitor with 150% scaling is fine for me. Some applications outside of games do not respect the DPI scaling in Windows, though, like Origin.

I keep the screen in race mode, as that is how it was factory calibrated. I just turn the brightness down to 20% in SDR mode for desktop use.
 
I dont have any cd drive, and i can see asus just uploadet the driver today on ther site for people who dont use cd rom drives :D
I just updated the driver so now it says asus 4k displayport

Some of the settings in windows looks decent size in 150 % but text in ect the advanced screen option where change hz an d drivers and finds info looks very small and the menu bar is to small since i use classic shell instead of the windows 10 menu because i hated that :D

So ur brightness is on 20 ? that is very dark if you ask me

You dont hear the fan even after you shutdown the pc and it still cools off for 5 mins ?
Alot of people complain about it

True, that. I am considered weird these days for having a Blu-ray drive in my PC.

Pictures are good. I see you're using Classic Shell, which may not play well with the DPI scaling, but it looks okay to me.

Depends on the lighting in the room. 20% is just about 100 nits, which is where my eyes are most comfortable. It's going to be different person to person.

To force the fans to turn off when the screen turns off/goes into standby:
  1. Open the OSD
  2. Scroll down to the bottom option (System Setup in English) and enter it
  3. Scroll down to the bottom option in this menu on the second page (DisplayPort Deep Sleep) and enable it
  4. You can do the same for the very next option (HDMI Deep Sleep) if you use HDMI for anything (I have my Xbox One X connected to it)
While you're in System Setup, go ahead and turn ECO Mode and Auto SDR Brightness off if they're on (second and third options on the last page, respectively).

I fear cd will have the same fate like the record and floppy disk :)

And yes im using classic shell but i think i can make the UI bigger somewhere in options, but that is a jungle to find where with out messing things up.

The deep sleep was allready enabled and the fan turns off few minutes after i shutdown my pc
I wish the red logo lights would do the same. I need to press the botton on the screen each time i want em off or turn the power off on the wall plug.
Since my bedroom also is my gamer room, then these lights can not be constant on :D
Or how do you deal with that.

I found another option called srgb or wide gamut under settings display SDR input and wide gamut seems to make the colours sharper or more contrast right ?
What is best to use ?

My comment on the DPI scaling was going toward your comment that you still had trouble reading text on the screen, and I don't see any issue as far as that goes. You should use whatever you're comfortable with.

There are various options for the lighting in the OSD. I have it all turned off.

The SDR setting in System Setup is for the gamma curve. Most applications in Windows are rendered in sRGB, so you want to keep the OSD setting this way, otherwise the color can get oversaturated. When you run in resoutions using the YCbCr222 color format you may want to try the Wide Gamut setting in the OSD to see what looks better. The sRGB setting in this color format can possibly cause black crush.

Nope. It's all a distraction. They're pretty to look at, though, so I guess if you want to impress guests or friends you can turn them on.
 
There wont be no impress since i found a dead pixel and im gona return the screen and hopefully get a new..the nightmare starts now...
